Poor sleep following COVID
Following a bout of COVID in mid October my sleep hasn’t been good. The problems are that I wake up many times throughout the night and most nights can’t sleep much past about 3AM. My daytime fatigue isn’t quite as bad as it was before starting CPAP, but it’s close to as bad. To my eye my Oscar char...

Re: Unknown Sleep Disorder
Does she feel anything before the episodes, such as lightheadedness or head spinning? What is she doing before the episodes? Does either positional changes or exertion proceed the episodes. Are there any environmental factors that can trigger seizures such as flickering fluorescent lights prior to t...

Re: OT: Hints for saving cast iron skillet are needed
I’ve had people pass on some Dutch ovens that needed serious TLC to come back to life, steel wool and elbow grease is my go to. You can scrub with baking soda, salt, and/ or dish soap if it’s extra bad. A nice scrubbing with hot soapy water is also good to get rid of any old oil build up (despite wh...

Re: Gas Stoves and Apnea
The recent study on asthma and gas stoves got lots of press primarily because politicians thought exploiting it was a good way to fire people up. As someone with both asthma and a gas stove I read thru the new study. https://www.mdpi.com/1660-4601/20/1/75 “We note that PAF analyses have limitations....

Re: CPAP and coughing up blood
RIght now, I have a 2nd endoscopy scheduled with a gastro doctor, to look at my throat/esophagus again, as well as my stomach. I have always had reflux issues (on prescription meds for this) and wondering if maybe something there is the blame? First time was with a pulmonary doctor, who focused hea...

Re: billymadison Update (CPAP/Hypersomnia)
I totally agree about the multi-disciplinary approach, however. On my blood tests, the rheumatoid markers were clean/negative. Interestingly enough my Pectus Excavatum can sometimes be related to Connective Tissue disorders, some of which have Hypersomnia included. But the Neuro didn't feel the res...

Time flies when you are havin' fun. Finally cleared the Dental work necessary before surgery [who knew?] and have an appointment to set a surgery date in a week- so I have at least one more week to live large. My connection with the Phy Assistant seems to be bearing fruit- AHI of 7.8 last night whi...

Re: Examples of CPAP Data With Seizures ?
Not an expert by any means, so take my anecdotal advice with a grain of salt. Epilepsy runs in my family. It’s hard enough to catch seizures on an EEG, I doubt that the data from a CPAP would show anything meaningful. For future sleep studies for your wife and son they should add full EEG monitoring...

I spoke to the Cardiac Surgeon for 2 hours yesterday, he favors TAVR [thru arteries in groin] [as do I] but spent 45 minutes going thru the crack open the chest and replace the [Aortic] valve with either a mechanical valve or one of the membrane valves harvested from porcine or bovine critters [I g...

OT;Antidepressants and sleep
Many antidepressants can interfere with sleep. Does anyone have recommendations on which antidepressants might be best for a person with sleep problems to consider?

Re: How to determine Good Sleep?
Thank you so much [emoji3590][emoji3590] I’ve been assured by every doctor I’ve seen that what I’m experiencing with fatigue is related to severe depression. I think they are right. But I also have the nasty habit of thinking there is some medical test that will show there is some easy fix. My brai...

Re: How to determine Good Sleep?
I have sought psychiatric help, but I don't think anyone can help me at this point. I cannot continue to function without any energy. I cannot live like this. Thank you all for trying to help me <3 I’m so sorry you are going through all you are and understandably feel incredibly frustrated. You str...

Re: Time zones and health
Flipping thru channels I caught the tail end of this and thought it might be interesting for this board, especially as we approach the turning back of the clocks in many parts of the world. I hope someone finds it interesting. They talk about health effects of time zones in some parts of the world....

They posted the Ocho notes to their portal- they are saying 'Moderate aortic valve calcification' which has progressed since my last ECHO in 2018- I am guessing they will start getting me ready for a valve job? My 'Visually estimated ejection fraction is 65-70%-- they are calling normal. And here i...

Re: new to CPAP
Hi, I am a new CPAP user, female, late 50s. I got a Resmed airsense 11 with Evora full face mask. For a week I seriously couldn't fall asleep with a full mask on. The full mask and headgear are way too intrusive for me. I kept yawning trying to fall asleep and you really could not yawn with the FFM...
