Re: Sounds fishy; insurance coverage for mouth piece but not CPAP?
Thanks for the input, will definitely encourage him to get a copy of the sleep study and to talk directly to his insurance company. He’s visiting from out of town for a couple of nights and I offered him use of an extra Dreamstation2 my family has to do a trial run with a APAP for for the 2 nights h...

Sounds fishy; insurance coverage for mouth piece but not CPAP?
A relative of mine who recently underwent a home sleep study was diagnosed with mild OSA. The sleep study showed an AHI of 14. The doc told my relative that his sleep apnea was likely worse than the study showed because the ahi when on his back (which had limited data) was 30. The doctor told my rel...

Re: Dizziness - a new symptom?
It feels like I'm watching a movie where the room is spinning slowly. It happens mostly from laying down and then getting up, moving of the head "quickly." Generally perfect health with no (known) issues. Yes, I will talk with my (PCP) doctor. As I research, people often talk about apnea and dizzin...

Re: Dizziness - a new symptom?
CPAP user for 2 years and never had a feeling of dizziness before. Been experiencing that for a month now. I understand and not seeking medical advice. For CPAP users, when they say sleep apnea and dizziness, when are they talking about? Would it be when you wake up? I just want to better narrow do...

Re: Newbie 74 year old frustrated
What led your doc to prescribe 5 liters of O2 on top of the bilevel? What elevation was your sleep study done at and what did the study show? To get the best advice you should consider blacking out all personal/identifying info and posting your sleep study. You should get overnight oximetry to see i...

Re: Severe nasal congestion/ allergies
Have you tried using a humidifier(s)? Nasal turbinates will swell in response to an allergen(s), dryness (caused by low humidty), dust mites, etc... Thanks, that’s a good suggestion. I wonder if it’s hard on the nose to go from the nice humid CPAP air to dry room air. I’ll give running some humidif...

Re: Severe nasal congestion/ allergies
Thanks for the responses. I have of course talked to many doctors about my allergies over the years, my current regimen is what the doctors have recommended. Singular works pretty good for me most of the time, times when it hasn’t been enough adding Benadryl and 12 hour Claritin (as the doc advised)...

Severe nasal congestion/ allergies
I realize this topic has been discussed at length, but the search function is currently giving me an error message and I’m hoping someone might have something to suggest that I haven’t tried yet. My allergies are always pretty severe, but this year with a combo of an unusually wet winter and spring ...

Re: New User Feeling Lightheaded and Dizzy
Hello, I am new to CPAP. I was diagnosed a month ago with moderate sleep apnea (AHI 27, lowest nighttime oxygen level 82%). Three nights ago I began CPAP therapy with the ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet CPAP (Card-to-Cloud). It seemed to go well. I sleep much longer now and my average apnea events per n...

Re: Hydrogen Peroxide for Cpap Machines
I have been using about one teaspoon of Food Grade 3% Hydrogen Peroxide in my Resmed Cpap machine reservoir for two years now and never had to clean it. The distilled water stays fresh as ever...oddly, I haven't had a cold or any other respiratory infection for two years either......a coincidence? ...

Re: CPAP mask for 12year old boy
Difficult situation, I feel for your family. My son went thru a similar situation although he was a bit older than your son. He had to be pulled from school for medical reasons which was really rough. His medical problems seemed insurmountable at the time but with patience and perseverance we figure...

Best bet for full face mask
A close family member unfortunately has acute myeloid leukemia. She’s been using an APAP with nasal mask for a few years, she never was completely comfortable with it but had pretty much got used to it. With the recent chemo she now considers CPAP to be intolerable, she thinks maybe switching to a f...

Re: I'm back, I'm insane, and I am ok
If nothing else I am glad the meds taught me a valuable lesson and showed me the "truth" of what was happening in a way that was undeniable. I wish I could stay on meds. Unfortunately, all of the mental health ones have resulted in almost total sexual dysfunction which I just simply cannot tolerate...

Re: Poor sleep following COVID
Such a helpful link, lazarus! Colomom, have you discussed your O2 data with your doctor? If I'm reading that one report correctly, you spent almost 66% of the night with O2 sats between 85 and 90. A question for your doctor might be whether it'd be helpful for you to have some supplemental oxygen d...

Re: Poor sleep following COVID
"Coronasomnia" and the long effects from COVID-19 on sleep are still being sorted out, it seems: https://www.sleepfoundation.org/covid-19-and-sleep/covid-insomnia But if lungs were affected significantly, that can take time for anyone: After a serious case of COVID-19, a patient’s lungs can recover...
