Yeah, you're right I'll ask my doctor tomorrow. The heart racing seems outside the scope of tweaking/optimizing cpap settings.

The knockoff p10 frame arrived today and I actually like it quite a bit. It's vents are large and quite similar to the swift fx vents and that's wonderful for me - no struggling on the exhale at all, and the genuine p10 nasal pillows are lovely. I'm really liking it, but will continue to try out more configurations (including the eclipse) to cover my bases.

However I am still trying to figure out the mouth breathing situation. I noticed that the scuncis I cut up for ear holes have lost somem of their elasticity, and I think it's because of the ear cutouts. I have started wearing a beanie underneaththe knightsbridge to prevent sliding, and I noticed today that the beanie underneath also helps the scuncis (without ear holes) stay on comfortably because the ears are padded. So I'll give silicon mouth tape + scuncis a try for another night or two, but I do still perceive a tiny bit of mouth leaking. At least I think my throat is a little dry upon waking.

I am considering giving the full face mask a real try at my dentist/orthodontist's suggestion, as I have never even worn one before and I want to see how it impacts dry mouth. Is cpap dot com the most reasonable place to get one these days? I have a prescription on hand. I used to like getting cpap (nasal) masks them from ebay but it seems they cracked down on that. Would love suggestions for full face masks (perhaps for side sleepers) as I know almost nothing on that topic.
LSAT had a variety of masks for sale recently. You might start there. He probably still has some and is a dependable seller.

I will bump his thread and hopefully he has it up to date with what is still available.

toss the scuncis in the wash/dryer cycle. it'll tighten them up a bit. but note hoever that you can't keep doing this forever. eventually they lose their elasticity altogether.

oh and i find a mesh bag good for this.
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

When I use an FFM it's the ResMed F30.
cpap.com are a very reasonable place to buy from.
I'm a side sleeper, and trial and error have taught me that the pillow for my head is as important to successful seal as is the mask.
The lankyleft27 reviews a "sleep cube" on youtube - there are memory foam pillows and other types. You need something that lets your head settle gently into the pillow without dislodging the mask.
Some of us can also train ourselves to side-sleep on the pillow's edge, with the mask "dangling" in the air.

Update: Sleeping with horizontal silicon mouth tape, scunci on top of that, airfit p10 knock off, beanie+knightsbridge. It doesn't feel like it's leaking out the mouth anymore; at least, I can't get it to leak even if I purposely blow out with moderate pressure. However something still feels a little off and my mouth is still a little dry. The water chamber is down to near empty by morning (humidity setting on 2/5 on Resmed vauto) - maybe the scuncis prevent the nasal pillows from getting as good a seal as normally? Or can you get dry mouth even if the seal is good + no mouth leak?

Maybe I need to look again into getting a humidifier.

I changed the temp from 74F to 79F partways through the night and that seemed to help. Does it make sense that this would have something to do with dry mouth? I'm not sure what a minor change in temp would have to do but it felt like it had some effect...

Any other ideas as to what could be causing dry mouth right now?

I may try and buy a face mask after all

Did you try the tape LankyLefty from YT recommends?

https://a.co/d/fJHd7WL

I find it works best to make sure your lips are together when putting it over your face, to put enough of it to thoroughly cover the mouth AND most of the cheeks on either side, and to make sure you press it deeply into the sides and corners of the lips and hold it there for a while so the adhesive sticks. Make sure your mouth area is as dry as possible before putting this tape on. It takes work but for me, at least, has been very effective.

Interesting - I've been cleaning my lips area using a witch hazel wipe. Then I use a silicon horizontal strip and 3 vertical CVS paper tape strips over it going down to the chin. Then I put 2 scuncis over it. It's working decently, but perhaps there is a bit of room for improvement.

I'll give that tape a shot - happy to try pretty much any tape product that people recommend - I made a self-commitment to be open minded and try out as many things as possible to find the ideal long-term solution.

Do you have an idea of whether your/LankyLefty's recommendation is stronger or weaker than silicon tape? I like how pain-free the silicon tape comes off, but I wish it was just a tiny bit stronger. I will also take note of using a longer horizontal strip to cover the cheeks - my concern there is that I use some cream on the cheek for acne, and they will likely interfere with the tape

I wouldn't put any product at all on skin areas where you want to put the tape and I'd even include soap even if it scrubbed and washed off. So just try and see if avoiding the use of any soaps and lotions in this one area will work. (I personally just shower with a microfiber towel and water alone but that's pretty extreme for most people.)

When I first started using this tape it would hurt to pull it off so now I get the tape wet and make sure to let some water get behind it. This immediately weakens the adhesive and I can pull it off comfortably. But maybe my skin is somehow adapting to it, too.

I don't know any other adhesives all that well so can't comment on them.

Just a brief update on what has finally worked for me.

I use a 1" silicone tape to cover the lips, then I cover over it with a 2" cover roll tape (I like this one, which is a bit gentler than the one in the youtube video) https://www.amazon.com/Non-Woven-Adhesi ... 132&sr=8-6 .

The silicone is much softer/gentler on the skin, whereas the cover roll is tougher and serves as a better anchor. This has been a near-perfect solution. But you should fold a small corner over the cover roll tape to aid with removal, and when removing, you should peel it "parallel" to the mouth rather than perpendicular.

I use two witch hazel wipes to clean out the general mouth area/ anywhere the tape might touch to ensure a good stick.

I had a skin injury the other day from Cover Roll removal (I did fold the corner). This morning I tried wetting the tape before removal... this works really well... just let it be wet for a minute or two, then start working the jaw and lips. You can feel the water soak through, then it removes easily.
