I slept 5 hours with the mask last night. I actually fell asleep before the ramp period ended. I did however remove the mask and I guess turn off the machine during the night and I don't have any memory of doing it. Is this something others have experienced? I did put the machine under my bed and am no longer hearing my breath in conjunction with the humidifier. I think that has helped.
Thanks for all the suggestions. I expected to fell better within days of starting with the machine and it helps to know it has taken much longer with others.
Removing Mask
Hi Pat,
I've been on this thing since mid-November. Recently I've found myself removing my mask in my sleep, something I hadn't done since my first night or so. Bummer feeling. I'm still struggling with the high prescribed pressure, and I find myself waking after the ramp ended and the high pressure sets in. Then, when I'm awake, I need to hit the ramp again. But now I've noticed that sometimes when this happens, I take the mask off, wait a few minutes and then hit the ramp button. I'm wondering if I'm now doing this in my sleep, but instead of hitting the ramp button, I'm snoozing and keeping the mask off of me, all in my sleep stupor. Luckily it's not been every night, and things seem to be improving again.
I think what might be helping is lengthing my sleeping hours. I found with my newfound energy starting the treatment, that I'm quite tempted to stay up super duper late, not sleepy at all until very late. Then I'm up early for work. Result, only about 4 hours of sleep or worse. Not good. Good thing is I'm feeling better and more awake; bad news is I'm not getting the sleep I should. Catch 22. So I'm trying to be better with the sleep pattern. Tough, though. But it's getting better.

I did the same thing, as many of us do.
My Doctors advise, "leave it on! Just get over it."
I did and he was right. I very seldom do that any more.
Remember it YOU that you are hurting.
I did buy a second mask, completely different than the first. If I start to take off the mask I am using, I just switch and go back to sleep. I found that what ever mask you are wearing can become uncomfortable after a few hours, and you need a change. I am going to get a third shortly and hopefully be even more happy.
