Three nights ago, I decided to up my APAP (420E) starting pressure to 6 from 4 for starting and max pressure of 18 from 20 (titrated during sleep study to 16). I had read several posts suggesting this might be a good thing. For me, it was not so good. For two days, I felt sluggish, out-of-sorts, tired and just downright cranky. Just like before starting with my APAP.
Last night, I switched pressures back to 4 and 20 and got less sleep (due to going to bed MUCH later), but this morning, I felt great again. So, switching pressures for me, at least didn't accomplish what I had hoped. But, fortunately, switching back worked just fine. I think I'm going to leave my settings where they are. Hopefully my software will arrive in a few days (it's on back-order. C'mon, cpap.com, don't let me down now! LOL) and I will be able to see something on the computer. (I'm kind of a computer geek and new software, especially on something like this, gives me shivers of anticipation!! LOL)
Also, I picked up one of those memory foam pillows and used it last night. It seemed to work pretty good. Thanks for that tip!
Folks, this therapy WORKS!

TX,
Finding the proper minimum APAP pressure for yourself is what it's all about! I've started a couple of threads on this issue in the past day or so. I might suggest that if you were titrated at 16 cm then a minimum pressure of 4 - 6 cm may be too low. The question is - does the APAP elevate the pressure into a "suitable" treatment range? The software will help you undestand what is happenning during the night.
derek

derek, thanks for the response.
Yes, the APAP is doing its thing. I sometimes wake when the pressure rises above 12 or so and it's gone up to 14 or 16 on a couple of occasions. One of the problems I noted was that the pressure didn't seem to come down once it went up, so I adjusted another setting (turned off the IFL) and that seemed to solve that problem.
It's taken a bit of experimentation (and will probably take a bit more) to get things set, but it sure has been worth it. Only 3 weeks into it and I'm feeling tons better.
Have a great day!
