Encore Pro Data Base Error

Post by jrfoster » Sat Mar 10, 2007 3:39 pm

When I click on the desktop icon to open Encore Pro I get the error "Cannot connect to data base". I have had this happen before and I had to enter a new facility name and address and then add myself again as a new patient.
Anyone else have this problem or know how to correct it?

Jeff,

Sounds to me like the "SQL Server" (scm.exe) and/or "Service Manager" (sqlmangr.exe) have not been started.

If you do a CTRL+ALT+DEL, and look at the running tasks, you can see whether they're in there or not.

Is the Service Manager running in the task bar (red or green arrow), if it is and you double-click on it, there's a line that shows the database in use (top line I think). If it's blank, there's a drop-down arrow on the right that will show the default database to use.

Best wishes,

Den

Den,

When I check the task manager all it shows is that Enocore pro is running and there is nothing in the task bar at all. I cannot double click in the task bar because all that does is close it to the task bar. The program does give me a box with my originial data base name listed, but when I click on it I get the same cannot connect to specified database.

Jeff

Are your programs in the "Startup" (do they automatically start when you boot up your computer)?
Have you tried shutting your computer down and rebooting?

To clarify, Den was talking about the tray. This would be over by the clock, not in the task bar. You're looking for a small icon that looks like this:

You want it to have the green play icon, not the red stop square.
I'm a programmer Jim, not a doctor!

OK, so I rebooted the computer and it seemed to work fine then got an error in downloading from the smart card!
So I exited the program, went back in and checked to make sure I had the right 'facility name' and patient name (even though it is only me) and tried again. And what do you know? It is now working again. Must have been some of those apnea demons playing in the system.

I needed to get it working bacause after months of CPAP I have finally got my AHI's down under 2! The last few night have been 1.2, 1.6 and 1.3. This is great news!!!!

Thanks for your help!

Great news!!!

Glad to hear it's running again.

Also, thanks blarg for the "visual".
