I would use bottled water before tap water, hoping it would be filtered better. I would also empty the humidifier every morning and allow it to dry out as much as possible. If you see any crud in the water or tank itself, give it a good wash to be sure all the crud is gone before refilling.

Re: Smelly issue ... help :)
No need to soak for afew hours, 15 minutes will do the job. The heated hose has wires, I never soak it...you could just flush it with the vinegar solution.

Re: Smelly issue ... help :)
Yes, you can use vinegar to clean your equipment. Just be sure to rinse well. I use vinegar after washing everything with dawn dishwashing liquid, it gets rid of all the soap residue. It also seems to bring life back to my old nasal pillows. I wash everything then use a 1 part vinegar to 3 parts wat...

Re: still lightly snoring on cpap
Then you need to up the pressure a bit. Move the pressure up slowly, wait a couple of nights(at least) before raising it again. I would raise it by the smallest increments possible until all the snoring was gone.

I have one...was told to leave it alone unless it started causing problems, but that they rarely do.

Answers;
1) yes
2) yes
3) possibly. You need to see what happens when you are asleep only. Try turning the machine off as soon as you wake in the morning and then look at the data. Look for patterns, are you having events during your awake times?

Re: AHI at 16 on CPAP... help!
Are you sure you aren't mouth breathing/leaking? Could it be that the higher pressure caused more leaks?
Remember...ONLY 1 CHANGE AT A TIME!!!! After each change take at least a few nights to adjust before making another.

Re: AHI at 16 on CPAP... help!
If the OP hasn't been bothered by runaway pressures, and it doesn't seem he has been, there is no reason to lower the upper pressure. He makes no mention of super high pressure or pressure changes interrupting sleep. I think it is best to get the lower number as close to the needed pressure as possi...

Re: Cosistency
11.35 is not good, it may be an improvement from before cpap but until the AHI is under 5, you still need to work on it. Some fluctuation is normal, but large differences can mean there is a problem. Did you have higher leaks? Mouth breath? Eat differently? Drink? There are many reasons to have a ba...

Re: AHI at 16 on CPAP... help!
Too high a humidifier setting can cause nasal passages to swell, possibly you could crank it down a bit. During large leaks the machine data is not reliable. If it were me...I would start with the 90% reading of 6.9 which means that 90% of the night you were at 6.9 OR below. I would set the lower pr...

Re: Can not sleep tonight any advice
Everyone has a bad night once in a while, even those without apnea. Could be due to stress, change in diet, daytime activities, or any number of things. These nights make cpap seem so much harder to tolerate. Many meds for migraine contain caffeine. Check yours to see if this is the case and if your...

A brick would be a machine with no bells or whistles, no cflex or EPR, no data, just a straight cpap. And yes they are usually the cheapest.

Re: Is a nasel pillow worth a try?
A nasal pillow is worth a try. I am also a mouth breather, but I tape my mouth closed every night. You should try a chinstrap first to see it it will keep you from mouth breathing, it didn't work for me but does for some. The RT should have offered you a different mask, they all seem to sit at sligh...
