NEW ResMed AirFit F30i full face mask....some reviews here

Post by Pugsy » Tue Jan 21, 2020 11:51 am

https://www.cpap.com/productpage/resmed ... -face-mask

Looks like ResMed has now completed the "30i" series masks with the release of the latest....AirFit F30i full face model
Before this one there was the N30i and then the P30i.....nasal and pillow versions.

This is the one with the hose connection on top and the frame where the air goes through the frame which is like the Respironics DreamWear.

Not to be confused with any of the 30 series mask model names that don't have the "i" as part of the model name.
Could ResMed not make it any more confusing.

I won't be trying this one...so don't expect any review from me on this one.

There is a thread here, viewtopic.php?f=1&t=178273&p=1339055#p1339055, with members ordering the mask and promising to give reviews.

Yeah, I just now saw it. Now we have two.
Not the end of the world and I am betting there will be more later.

Wanna take bets on how many F30 comments end up in a thread about F30i masks?
I sure wish ResMed had more imagination in the mask naming department.

I would have settled for Dreamwear FFM Copy.

Decided to use this thread to update. The other one seems to be a bit side tracked.

Ordered the New ResMed AirFit F30i Monday 5:20 PM. Standard frame/wide cushion.
Picked up at mailbox Thursday 11:00 AM.
Pretty fast service. :D

Do not know how relevant this is, but the more info the better I suppose: I am a fairly large male. 6' 3", 225# and my head and nose are fairly normal for my size.

At first glance I thought the wide cushion was too big for me. Not so. When the mask inflates it expands to hug the nose.
It kind of fills up the space around one's nostrils and nose. Good seal for me.
The nose cushion is different than the P30i in that it does not have the nare nipples. Just two oblong holes. Breathing through them is very unrestrictive.

I have a full beard. Medium to short (depending on my trimming habits)
It leaked around the area below the corners of my mouth down, until I tightened the lower straps a little more than I wish I had to.
Not so tight that I can not get used to it fairly quickly.

I ran a mask fit and got rewarded with a good little smiley face. :)

There is a frame fitment guide on the other side on the nose fitment card. Unfortunately it just shows three views of the frame with a head profile.
One with a green checkmark and two with a red x. One right, two wrong. If it sets too far forward toward the forehead - wrong (size up).
If it sets too far back on the head - wrong (size down). If it sets toward the front of the head, but not too far - right.
Not much help unless you have the mask in hand.

That is about all I have for now.
I will wear it tonight (maybe from now on if all goes well) and report back. :D

I printed out their fit card and it looked like the medium was right for me but now you got me wondering. I am used to the F20 where the nostril area is not impeded so I am wondering if you can go wide without leak issues.

About the only thing I can think of for frame fit is something like measuring the distance from ear to ear over the top of the head. You will have to let us know how the frame fits for you and some measurement on your head that you have that we can compare to.

And no we will just say you have more brains than we have! :)

I also printed out the AirFit F30i fitting template sheet. I too cannot determine which frame size to select. Can someone help?

Frame sizing is next to impossible from a template because you need the darn thing on your head first.
We had the same kind of problem with the DreamWear frame sizing for people. You just can't tell unless you put it on. They don't give us a guide to go by in anything we can measure.

I can tell you that they don't run on the small side though. I have the P30i....and it has the Standard/medium frame and it's waaaaay too big for my head. Now I am female and rather petite and don't have a big head but I am uncertain that even the small frame would work.
With the DreamWear even the small frame was too big for my head and this medium P30i frame seems bigger than the medium DreamWear did ...but it's been quite some time since I tried the DreamWear and my memory is far from perfect.

My suggestion for the guys unless you already know you have a really big head because of your hat size....start with the Standard frame and see how it does. You simply can't tell where it is going to rest on your head to match that template without putting it on your head.

Remember......if you do end up with a size you can't use in something...hold on to it if you end up having to get a different size because eventually someone else will be in your same shoes and be wanting the size you can't use and they will have the size you can use...and you guys can swap them.

Too bad they don't offer a fit pack with multiple sizes of frames....or maybe they will in just a bit of time. The DreamWear didn't have a fit pack immediately but about a month later Respironics was offering one. Maybe ResMed will do the same.

Mine showed up today as well. I got the medium frame and wide cushion. When I put it on to see how it felt, my immediate reaction was that it felt great. Looking forward to testing it out tonight.

I did notice the quick release elbow is different from the F30 model (my go to mask). That isn’t a big deal but just something to be mentioned.

The fitment card I have came with the mask.

I have a P30i mask and I do not think a comparison with it will help with fitment. It is a standard frame with large cushion.
The frame is a little too large (for me) for a good fit. I had to wrap the top part in order to stop it from sliding around on my head.
I believe realshelby's thread found the same thing for a lot of users. One strap for adjustment.

I do not think the frame of the F30i will be like that. It has two connected straps. (more room for adjustment).

Wearing it while sleeping (I hope) will test that theory. That and leakage, at least for me.
After all we are all different.

Just noticed Pugsy's post.
I think she is 100% right.
You are going to have to have it in hand (on Head) to know what frame size will work for you.

YAHOOOOO! THIS IS WHAT I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR!!!! Hopefully the cushion is the same or just as good as the F30 was. If so, I know I will like it. My DME won't have it yet, but am considering buying one out of pocket so that I will know if I like it. No more chin straps if it works for me.

I just got finished ordering my new Resmed F30i from CPAP.com. I just can't wait another 3-6 months for my DME to get it in stock. This way, I will know if it works for me before it is time to order new supplies from my DME. It was time to order new supplies in January, and on the 18th, my dreamwear nasal mask was shipped & is enroute & my headgear with arms arrived in the mail yesterday (I had to pay out of pocket for the headgear as my DME didn't have it in stock yet). But that's okay. I will have two new masks to use. It's good to have a nasal back up and what if I end up not liking the F30i? but if the cushion is the same as the F30, I know I will love it. Bye Bye chin strap and hopefully no liners needed! With the F30 the seal was perfect & I didn't need liners like I did with the dreamwear. It was just the hose on the nose style that I can't tolerate. I have my hopes up for the F30i being a success & my FINAL mask for life.
