Re: Dreamwear PR mask
I've been using the DreamWear mask for several years with no issues. If it wasn't delivering the proper pressure, you would see it in an increased AHI. You can check that on the machine without even accessing the data on the card. Mine is regularly between 0.2 and 0.3, so the treatment is fine with ...

Re: CPAP recommendation (DS1 alternative)
EPR is "Expiratory Pressure Relief". I can't remember if that's the term used on Philips machines, but all machines allow you to adjust the settings to have up to 3 cm of pressure relief during exhalation since some people find it uncomfortable to exhale against pressure. This is something most peop...

Re: CPAP recommendation (DS1 alternative)
I disagree with the premise that some algorithms can't be "more comfortable" than others. My first machine was a PRS1 and I felt like I had to fight it every single night for 6 years. I eventually got used to it, but would never have called it comfortable. And in terms of "aggressiveness" of the alg...

Re: Smoker? Don't smoke around your CPAP!
You were the victim of child abuse! I would agree with that statement but for a few things: I describe the time I grew up as "the time before child psychology". Not technically true, but it might as well have been. Everyone smoked in the 1960's. Every other commercial and print ads was for cigarett...

Re: Inclined bed: a solution for apnea's and snoring...?
I sleep on a big stack of pillows and my home sleep study STILL had my AHI at 82. So no. I have fallen asleep sitting straight up (in the car, in a plane, when really tired in other places where sleep is not appropriate) and I have apnea almost immediately. Unless a sleep test confirms that apnea is...

Re: AirSense 11 AutoSet arrived, a few questions
Another cause of the water chamber running dry during the night is mouth breathing.

Re: Air ‘push’ during moments where I don’t breath
The Philips Respironics System One Auto's algorithm would make a puff of air if you didn't take a breath soon enough. I don't think it was for the purpose of "encouraging you to inhale", but a way of checking to see if the airway was open. Still it did make me feel it was trying to get me to breathe...

I've been using the same hose for years. I guess you could call that "high quality".

Re: Replaced Phillips with Airsense 10
I used a Philips for the first 6 years and then switched to an Airsense 10. My impression is that the Airsense algorithm is smooth as glass, I always felt like I was fighting with the Philips because it seemed to push me to breathe in an unnatural rhythm. I don't love that we have to take it on fait...

Re: INTRACTABLE HEAD PAIN WITH FULL MASK
I agree with the suggestion that a different mask may have the needed different pressure points to prevent pain. Knowing exactly where their pain is located could lead you to selecting a workable mask instead of guessing willy-nilly. I've had to give up on masks that the strap across the back of th...

But then things have really been screwed up in my life here lately.

Sorry to hear that. I hope my other "saying" works better for you--"when a year starts out badly it ends up great".
Hang in there, Pugsy.

Re: Worked great - until it didn't
My ResMed 10 autoset "exceeded it's motor life". How long have you had yours? Has it been checked over in case it's malfunctioning. How about your mask--how long since you've replaced it? Any leaks in your hose? Have you actually SEEN your doctor to assess whether there's been a change in your heart...

Re: INTRACTABLE HEAD PAIN WITH FULL MASK
Too little info for anyone to be able to respond. I assume you are getting a diagnostic workup in the hospital. What results?
Which mask caused you pain? Was it brand new? How tight was it? Have you tried other masks?

Re: Is the N30 nasal cradle different from P10 pillows?
Regarding the finding of lost or misplaced things, the strategy that ALWAYS works for me is to buy a new one, and THEN the lost or missing one always shows up.
