I'd really be mad at having to feed and house the shooter for 40 years, so they could be paroled and set free, thanks to a liberal loaded supreme court. As could happen even in Texas.... That makes me mad. Jim

I would be upset that the school didn't defend my children!

If you were in a public place and your life was saved by someone who had a gun would your view not change?

You'd be a hell of a lot more than, "upset" if one of your children or grandkids had been killed.

If I found myself in a public place and someone saved my life, be it from a lunatic with a gun or a paramedic, I would be very thankful... has nothing to do with this conversation.

I'm out of this thread, doubtful anything will change in 'merica, and for sure, not going to change here.

My point is it's already illegal to have guns at school. Laws don't make you safe. Criminals break laws. Keeping dangerous people in jail or if they are dead is only way to be protected from them.

Seriously if anyone had a solution gaurenteed to stop all violence and murders I'll be the first one in line to turn in firearms. I enjoy target shooting but I'll turn them in for world peace.

I think we can all agree that losing even one child is unacceptable. Losing any human life that is preventable is unacceptable. Unfortunately there is no solution. We can't stop people from committing heinous acts. It's unfortunate but it's a fact of life.

A firearm is a tool . Yes they make killing people easier for better or worse. They have been called "the great equalizer" .

Another unfortunate fact is humans can be ingenious. If you could take away all guns in the world how many other things can you think of that could be used to kill mass amounts of people that are used everyday?

My point is that I am glad I work at a private institution that respects gun rights but is cautious in who is allowed to have them on their property.

To emphasize your last point, water can be used to kill mass amounts of people in certain circumstances. I challenge you to live without water though,

There was a tragic story from South Carolina on NBC evening news last night. A man took his family for Sunday lunch at a restaurant yesterday. They went inside and were seated. Shortly, he got up from the table, went to his car and drove his car into the building. He killed his daughter and daughter-in-law and injured others. His daughter was a deputy and the man had been a police officer for a number of years.

I seems easy to me. If you own a gun you will be guilty of every crime committed with that gun, even if it was stolen from you. You have a duty to secure your gun!!!

Only if they also are "undocumented" (illegal) aliens or are people of color. Those deserve preferential treatment.

The NRA did not shoot anyone..it was a student. It's the second amendment that allows legally owning a gun. It does not allow shooting students.

The second amendment allows gun ownership in the context of "a well-regulated militia." This is not "interpretation," this is the actual wording! It clearly does not allow for the unfettered and unregulated situation that we have now!

The founding fathers of the United States did not consider military grade weapons. That was because the military grade weapons of those days were battleships and cannons, which are not suited for private ownership! The writers of the constitution would be mortified if they know the types of weapons and ease of access that is possible today!
