Honey
Re: Honey
Thank you for your kind words, Lucyhere.
I try my best. Generally speaking, I believe that example beats sermon, almost always.

Re: Honey
It's sad to see that members making fun of other members is an enjoyable form of entertainment for some.
Re: Honey
Especially if its D.H. related ... Some of the best laughs are from this forum .

My favorite trolling behavior is trying my best to make people make fun of me so I can then accuse them of bad behavior. Works every time.
Isn't the old saying that you can "troll more flies with honey than with vinegar"? Or maybe I got that wrong. Hopefully someone will now make fun of me for that!

If you think D.H. has said something that isn't correct, by all means correct it, in that thread. But interjecting the above serves no purpose whatsoever and helps no one.

Re: Honey
I decided to learn about prebiotics a couple of weeks ago. In the process read that raw, unpasturized honey was a prebiotic. My husband found a honey store and purchased a numbered bottle of raw, unpasturized, unfiltered, local honey from wildflowers fall of 2017. The sales person told him about the teaspoon at night. This honey is delicious, not too sweet with an interesting texture. My husband feels it has helped his sleep too. If he sleeps better, so do I. Since the original intent to buy honey was for the prebiotic capability, it's a double win.lwieland11 wrote: ↑Mon May 14, 2018 5:00 amYou'd think, as long as I've been struggling with sleep apnea(15 years), I would have run across this by now. Maybe it's because I was trying all the sleep meds which always left me feeling drowsy in the morning and then just gave up. But I read somewhere this week that a simple spoonful of honey will knock you right out. So, I tried it and it did! Done it the past several nights. Knocked me out every night. One little teaspoon of honey has made all the difference. Looking forward to seeing if/how it impacted my AHI.
Why we chose local honey, is, believe it or not, there is counterfit honey on the international market.
So you are not alone. Enjoy it.

The best reason to buy local honey, I've heard, is for its anti allergenic properties - coming from where you are.

Health section of 2011 NYT wrote:Dr. Stanley Fineman, president-elect of the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, said he has seen a growing number of patients ask about local honey. “Seasonal allergies are usually triggered by windborne pollens, not by pollens spread by insects,” he said. If honey is so healthy, why is it forbidden to give to babies?

Re: Honey
Of course, the biggest problem with the cheaper placebo pills is that the lack of industry standardization means my pills may not actually contain any placebo whatsoever.
Well, there's that AND the lack of evidence that the placebo has any reliable lasting effect across populations.
Double-blinds can be a real bear with most attempted studies of placebos, I understand, especially since placebos, by their very nature, can only be compared directly to things that actually work.
Anecdotally speaking, anyway.

I cut out the middle men, I take the Imaginary Placebo Pills that I imagine I make myself Jim
Three years ago, I started using Honey to replace refined sugar in my diet, haven't bought sugar except for Dark Brown and Powdered for years. I know, but I still need my Sweets.
Fake Honey should be banned, Wish my uncle was still with us, he kept 12 hives, back then I wasn't into Honey much, I missed out. Another thing I miss, Wild Flowers all over, Clover Fields, we are missing out on a lot in our modern world. Jim
