No need to repair, plan ahead, stuff happens Keep spares new and old parts. Better in a drawer than in the landfill. Jim

The only thing I can think of is overly enthusiastic cleaning.

Thank you very much for the repair illustrations.
I use the Oracle 2 mask and the attachment point for the headgear to the mask repeatedly fails causing me to replace the whole mask.
That is about $70 every 3-4 months as the failure is always the same.
Using the same glue as you used, I was able to repair the most recent failure and it seems to be OK.
I'll try it tonight to see if the repair holds. If it does, that will save me over $250 a year in masks.

JDS74,
Please let me know how it goes. I've been quite happy with the repairs I've had to make and hoped the pics would help someone else...like you!

I agree with the naysayers. Save the old ones for emergency.

But if you insist...use aquarium silicone for minimal toxicity.

If we have to use a product that fails to stand up to normal use,
we can do other things--reinforce before using to ward off damage,
(and share your strategies for damage prevention, please)
complain repeatedly to the manufacturer, or switch to a more durable product.

Used the repaired mask last night and all went well. The sealant held nicely so the repair looks permanent.

I am going to try putting the sealant on a new mask that has not failed to see if the failure can be stopped.
The failure is at the point where the headgear attaches to the mask. In the image, the plastic clip attaches to a slot on the silicone and that slot tears rendering the mask useless.
The OP's solution applied to this tear works just like a charm. I suspect that reinforcing this part of the mask will prevent the tearing from occurring.

I did send a note the manufacturer but never got a reply.

There is no other mask I can use to switch to - this is the only oral only mask.
A year or so ago an Israeli company was starting trials on their version but I have not heard any progress reports. Perhaps their design infringed on the Oracle 2 patent.
