Re: Oxygen sat levels
...(although there were apneas and hypopneas where technically your O2 sat drops to 50% or less.) How or what do they actually measure and record? How could my lowest sat be 85% on the same test where they documented apneas & hypopneas that by definition must have lower O2 levels?... Hey JB, I am n...

Hi Gracie, I think your experience makes perfect sense. CPAP primarily keeps your airway open while you sleep. This prevents your airway from closing which then prevents your blood oxygen level from falling. When your airway closes and you stop breathign, your blood oxygen falls and your brain wakes...

Ok, based on everyones comments here I turned mine off too. Actually I thought the idea was a good one, that is a standard presentation of everyones equipment. The implementation fell short. The pictures take up too much space and do not provide enough information. One or two lines of text really do...

You should also consult with your dentist about these options. I recently was able to speak with mine this week. My dentists' father was also a dentist, they were partners until the father retired. Apparently the father has sleep apnea and uses CPAP. My dentist is one of the top dentists in the area...

Well, I was given a complete copy of my SS with all the color graphs for the whole night. They didn't charge me for it right then, but realize you are paying for it one way or another. That is if you don't get charged directly when you receive it, it will be included in your overall health care cost...

My sleep doc prescribed a CPAP, but said it was ok for me to buy an APAP. She just felt I didn't need to put out the extra cash unless I wanted to. In the end she was right. I get my best results with my apap set at the fixed pressure she prescribed. When buying my APAP noone questioned the fact tha...

I guess I am one of the lucky ones. Once I was diagnosed as positively having sleep apnea, i was invited to a half day seminar to learn all about sleep apnea. They gave us a lot of information. They also gave us our detailed data print outs and explained how to read the details, plots and stuff. The...

The first few questions I did not reply to as I have not been on therapy long enough to need to replace anything. I'm finding even my filters never get noticeably dirty in the 8 or so weeks I've had my machine. But I still wash the washable ones. As far as your poll/survey goes, I have a few suggest...

Here is an interesting quote from the free preview they give of the book: "Some people only need four or five hours of sleep; others need eight or nine. Sleeping longer than the body needs will increase the amount of time spent in very light sleep, causing a person to awaken unrefreshed." I'm going ...

I had more trouble with noise with my Swift the first few weeks I used it. I had pretty much forgotten about the noise it made until this thread popped up again. I can't really explain why, but the longer I've used it, the better I've been able to fine tune all the pieces, strap tensions, etc so tha...

Now that I have all my settings tweaked, optimum pressure, humidifier, mask fit, and so on, I find I breathe so much more freely with my mask on and at pressure. For me, that first breath without my mask is a bit of a let down. My APAP and Swift combo is keeping my sinuses open and air flowing so we...

Hey Dave, Yeah, it makes sense to think about all these things and ask all the questions. I think my earlier response was partly reacting to many other posts where people have stated they have started dreaming now that they are on xpap therapy. Having read these statements weeks ago I became curious...
