Re: Thank you for your advice!

...My DME recommended Ocean Saline Nose spray. I wonder has anyone had any success with that? I tried it last night and it didn't do anything except make my nose run a little bit. ... It seems all the "experts" are always recommending Saline Nasal Sprays, but my experience has been similar to Snore...

I agree with Jim. Progress for me has been slow. I have almost 60 compliant days logged on my machine and I still feel like I have a long way to go to feel rested. Part of it is getting your equipment right and tweaking all the settings, mask, etc, and then getting used to using it. The other thing ...

I had the same problem when I first tried cpap. My sinuses would get so congested and irritaed that I would sneeze and blow my nose continuously for 2 days. The solution was the heated humidifier and a good prescription sinus spray. Crank your humidifier up first and see if that helps. If you are st...

My REMstar autostart also is sluggish at times. Normally as Hugh said it starts within 3 or 4 breaths. Now and then it seems like it's stuck. This happened last night and I decided to wait it out and see if it eventually would start. Sure enough it eventually did start after 3 or 4 monutes. I think ...

Maybe I'm just too new at this since its only been one week. But I have a new machine w/humidifier. i set it on 2 and in the morning, it looks like the water level has only gone down maybe 1/8 of an inch?????? Also I might all, at this point in this exhausting saga, i am probably only wearing the m...

I also used the MyEncore software to collect tons of data on how I respond to differnt pressures. With it I was able to fine tune my setup and get my AHI down to where it is. Prior to MyEncore I was only getting down to the 18 to 20 AHI range. Now I'm down to 4 to 8 range. So I'm still looking for w...

Ummm??? I thought using the xPAP machines reduced or eliminated the need to use the bathroom at night? It has for me. I've only had to get up once (for that purpose) since I started using the machine (about 2+ months now). So what gives? Are you still not getting the deep sleep you need? You are ri...

REMstar Heated Humidifier Frustrations

Now and then I have to get up in the night. In doing so I either shut off my machine, or it auto shuts off (including the humidifier). When returning to bed I can simply slip back into my mask and slide right back into dream land bliss, since the auto-on feature works very well. Unfortunately, in my...

I personally I quite like the pictures as I can click on them to see what people are using. I am not sure how to set mine own up though. As long as it does not make the site crash though, as someone suggested in their post. Those little icons are HIGHLY unlikely to ever make the site crash. Little ...

A Down Side to CFLEX??

I have been using my REMstar Auto w/heated humidifier for over 2 months now. It seems with every passing week I learn more about how my body responds to this therapy. I have been continuously trying to tweak the settings, and everything else I do to bring my AHI down. My initial sleep study results ...

Re: More on my problems

...Even though my pressure is only 6. I feel like I got too much air in me and I can't relax as a result. That's the only way to describe it. So I'm wondering if C-Flex might help.... DCTom, a pressure of 6 is not very much to breathe against. We are all different, but I would thing the benefit you...

Re: !? Sounds to me like it did

How is increasing amount of sleep with the machine attached by 50% *not* an "improved clinical outcome??!" That's really odd. Because they are talking about the impact of CFLEX on results, all else being equal. And they are simply saying more testing needs to be done to come to any further conclusi...

Re: Oxygen Saturation vs other measured variables

One would think that the greatest harm from sleep apnea comes from depriving one's organs and tissues of oxygen. Essentially, pauses and obstructions to breathing suffocates the entire body as oxygen in the bloodstream becomes scarce. Many of us attempt to measure effectiveness of xpap therapy usin...

JB you are confusing air flow with blood oxygen levels. A blood oxygen level of say 85% is different than the reduction of air flow caused by a hypopnea.

When people talk about O2 sat levels, they are talking about how saturated your blood is with oxygen.

I use a REMstar auto, and I cannot relate at all to the effect you and others have reported of the air coming into your mask being uncomfortably warm. At any setting I've ever used on my humidifier I have never been able to sense a difference in the air temperature at the mask. At higher humidifier ...
