A Bit of HEAVEN! Night #1

Post by Rubyslipperss » Tue Apr 17, 2018 12:25 pm

Oh my goodness! Night #1 with new CPAP and mask was a bit of HEAVEN!

I fell asleep almost immediately, didn’t even get to read a page of my Kindle ebook! The resMed myAir app on my iPad gave me 91 out of 100 points. I slept 10.57 hours, no mask problems at all, mask on and off X7 of which I don’t remember doing. I reset the mask a few times during the night even though it was comfortable. Only problem was I had 16.9 events per hour. I didn’t wake up unable to breathe or have any nightmares. I wonder if readjustment of the mask was counted as the mask being off.

I feel very rested. The humidifier was on and I was comfortable with it. Heated hose was on and 👍 OK too. Ramp was on but no problems. Only real problem was the Events Per Hour. Aerocare monitors everything and If the events continue to be high, I will reach out to them. I know they can change the settings at their office. Do they need a Doctors OK to do that? Or can they do that on their own?

I am so happy right now with my new “stuff “. The ResMed AirFit F20 FF is extremely comfortable and I don’t even know it’s there. The ResMed AirSense 10 AutoAir machine is super quiet and I cannot hear it running at all. The mask is easy to connect to the tubing and you don’t need to take the mask off when you go to the bathroom. The headgear has magnets and is easy to secure.

Many of you probably already know the basics of the equipment but some new users may not so I hope this may help them. Will update tomorrow morning.

A happy me!

I think so especially if you turned the machine off and back on when you did it.

Also with the known mask readjustments you know you were awake during those times you refit the mask....so some of that AHI might be sleep/wake/junk.

It's a new mask if I remember right as in totally new model...give yourself a few nights to get the fit dialed in so less adjustments in the middle of the night is needed. Then see what the AHI does..if still high get the software and figure what part of it is high.

Yes, this mask is the newest one for Resmed. I have figured out what to do with my shoulder length hair.`When the guy that delivered it to me adjusted the mask, my hair was on my face. Once I tucked it behind my ears the mask was a bit looser than before. I think I have it fitted correctly now.

The mask is really great. I like that there is nothing on my forehead. The headgear almost stands up on its own and is not Velcro. So easy to disconnect the mask from the hose for going to the bathroom. Magnets instead of clips. So far, I love it.

I haven’t been able to sleep with my down pillow since the old machine died. Tonight I will see if I can start using it again.

So entirely jealous and glad you're feeling so great. I hope I'll get there one day... :)

Ain't it wonderful! I recall that after my night at the sleep center for the titration, where I slept a total of 3.5 hours I still felt so good, so much better than I had been feeling. And for me, it just keeps getting better. Sleep tight and don't let the bedbugs bite!

What problems are you experiencing and for how long? I just got my new CPAP and mask. I can only use a Full Face mask.

Only used the new goodies for 3 nights but I feel so much better. I was talking to someone on the phone last night and they said they could hear a difference in my voice! Happy camper here!

Very glad to hear of your success. Having a positive attitude about it is a big part of being successful and I'm glad you approached this that way. I too felt the same way about it when I started. It made it a lot easier to adapt and indeed look forward to using my machine each night.
