Trouble exhaling through my nose into mask

Hi there: I have used my CPAP without any problems the last two years. I got really sick in January with an ear infection and sinus infection, and luckily wearing the CPAP was the only way I could sleep at night as it cleared my nose. I am no longer congested at all. Ever since then, when I'm asleep, usually about an hour or two into sleep, I have trouble exhaling through my nose, and it wakes me up (basically because I can't breathe). It's actually like a skip in breathing. This happens for a few breaths but of course I have trouble falling back asleep, and then it happens a few more times throughout the night. I also wake up with a really dry throat and sometimes that wakes me up again as well. I've gone back to the clinic, they've made some suggestions and adjustments, but nothing seems to help. They've tried adjusting the humidity and the mask as well. I know I'm not describing it as well as I could but I'm not sure how to. I'm so frustrated as I know I sleep so much better when it's working properly (usually 6 hours uninterrupted sleep) but now I'm only getting 2 or 3 hours of sleep a night.
