Help with passing gas

Post by jjraines31 » Sat Apr 07, 2018 1:27 pm

I have a difficult battle with aerophagia with a lot of cofactors and complexities, not looking to talk about it generally as I've been there done that and tried that. The one aspect I'm looking to explore about here is gas/air bloat relief thru gas (that is, farting).

Because two nights ago I was passing gas all night (i.e. the air from xPAP entering my digestive tract) which meant I woke up to NO aerophagia, which is unheard of for me these days. Basically everything that came in, went quickly out. Unfortunately that was not replicated the following day, and brutal aerophagia has returned. But this is cause for hope for me because if I can figure out the mechanics of allowing that air flow to pass thru, I can beat this.

Anyone have any tips or experience with this? I've found stuff like simethicone makes it worse or atleast not better. I don't even know why I had it so 'good' that night or how to replicate it. But it's remarkable how 'easy' an impossible problem like aerophagia can be beaten if the air simply moves on instead of getting stuck in the stomach! In a very real sense, THAT is why we get aerophagia -- not because it's getting to our stomach, but because it's staying there.

How would you know the air was going out all night if you were asleep? Did you wake up a lot and release it then?

I eat a bowl of Chili every night before bed, passing gas isn't a problem. Maybe the chili acts like a plug so everyone can enjoy it the next day! Jim

i've been there. the only thing that worked for ME was lowering the pressure. i'm now almost three years into this, but whenever i try a higher bottom pressure, aerophagia rears it's ugly head again. because of this, i don't think i will ever have the perfectly effective treatment.

having said that, i still do okay with no complaints.

(well actually one complaint, but it has nothing to do with the topic at hand.)

will this work for you? i have no idea. we all are special snowflakes and what works for me may not work for you.

i think julie already asked-what's your pressure settings?
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

Pet fart is the WORST!
When our Chihuahua was still alive, he hated human fart.
Anybody let one go, he would yip and run for cover.
Even if we made the sound with our mouths, he would act the same way.
He was like that all his life. Hilarious!
