Here's a new one...

Post by lathnos46 » Wed Apr 04, 2018 5:24 pm

Hi fellow Cpap peeps. I had something happen that I am sure you will think is strange. I read this forum pretty carefully and I have not seen it before. Forgive me if it is a known issue and I just missed it. I was determined to change to a nasal pillows mask after seeing on here that it was the mask most loved/used by you all. I tried several and could not get a good seal. I had much leakage. The last one I tried I really liked and was getting good results. It was the Nuance Pro Gel Pillows. I loved it. Then I noticed after a few nights of use that my left nostril was starting to click/move when I scratched or blew my nose. It was like the cartilage on the left side of my nose was now loose and it would shift or click to the right when I touched that area. It was a very disconcerting feeling and I stopped using the mask. Now, several days later the effect is still there and I am hoping it will go away with time. Very strange indeed. Now I am back to the Nasal mask, the ResMed N20.

Just ordered the Eson 2 mask because this mask gave me the very best seal when I tried it with my DME but I really don't enjoy the straps going over my forehead. I figure I will use it occasionally when I have had many nights of less than optimum mask seal. (I don't do very well with the ResMed N20. I am only getting a 95 or 96 score on it and it's all due to mask leakage). Oh, how I wish I could find the perfect mask that is minimally invasive and seals with minimum leaks. The holy grail of masks escapes me.

Have you considered the Tap Pap? It fits securely with no straps. The down side is that the nosepiece is stabilized by a mouthpiece fitted to the upper teeth. Some dental issues could make this not an option.

. . . But no pain?
Cartilage is funny.
As long at it doesn't hurt, probably no problem.
If it bugs you, get to an ENT for a looksee.

I’ve been using a older mask the Resmed mirage Fx it’s been good but I’ve had a few issues with it and looking to try something different soon.

No, I have looked at the Tap Pap but I don't think that would work for me. I don't like the idea of having to hold something in my mouth. Thanks, though.

Zero pain, thank goodness, but my center cartilage is loose now. Hope my nose doesn't disintegrate! Just kidding!

Why do you suggest that particular mask? The ones I have on hand now are the ResMed N20 and the Brevida Nasal Pillow. Both are just OK with the ResMed N20 being a little better. I am not getting good leak rates on it though.
