Sleep Is Strange

Post by edatlanta » Tue Apr 03, 2018 5:12 am

I have been using my APAP (but with fixed pressure) for about 45 days now and never missed a night. Adapting to it was very easy for me so I'm lucky. This past week was strange.

I live in an RV full time and my AHI's have been very low with the CPAP since the beginning - 1.0 +/- 0.5. This past week I moved from my home base site where I had been since first starting the CPAP to a campground 70 miles away (same elevation). My AHI's last week were still not bad, but increased to 1.5-1.9 for the week. Last night back at my home base site I saw .5 this morning.

Same RV, same bed, same CPAP, same mask, etc. How can scenery out of the window make any difference?

Amazing. Not much of a difference, but a difference still.

For some of us, our brain keeps on high alert when it knows it is away from base camp. We sleep, but with one eye open, with full gear on, and with our trigger finger nestled against the trigger lock.

Not sure about CPAP but I think some people insist they must sleep in a particular compass direction to sleep well.

Humans are not the only creatures who need to establish format to sleep.
Dogs are hilarious; cats, too.
Even cows and deer need to turn until the grass lays just right.
There might be more to it than we understand . . .

It might not be what is happening at night. During the day - different diet/exercise/alcohol/etc.?

Climate difference affecting humidity needs, or different allergens?
