SD card results

Post by Chalkie » Sun Mar 18, 2018 9:25 am

I have managed to obtain an appointment with the Sleep Clinic next have already had some very useful feedback on two separate weeks of recent downloads but am just putting this out there and would value any opinions.

Looks like the leaking is excessive. What should the reading be if the seal is good?
Does it bother you? If it significantly bother you then I don't trust the AHI stat.

When the leaks are within acceptable limits (under maybe 90 L/min total leak) the AHI is correct and high.
The periods with not much happening in terms of event flags is usually within times of excessive leaks.
The machine is likely missing flagging of events because of excessive leak.

The AHI is high...probably would be higher if the leaks weren't so bad.

Don't anyone ask for SleepyHead results. This machine isn't compatible with SH.

Agree, except I was noting that if the leaks are causing frequent arousals then the AHI can be artificially high due to the SWJ.

Even if a little of that AHI was SWJ.....can't blame all that ugly on SWJ.

Diagnosis was complex sleep apnea...I am unsure if cpap triggered the centrals or they were present before cpap.
At any rate discovered and this machine was given and it isn't working at these settings.
I do not know if more EPAP would help with the OAs and thus maybe reduce the centrals if (BIG IF) those centrals/CAs are maybe post arousal. Unfortunately this model machine doesn't give us a flow rate graph to look at to see if the centrals look real or arousal related.
I have one report with minimal leaks and minimal apparent fragmentation an the AHI was still close to 30.
The better the leak management...the higher the AHI.

Remember OP is in the UK and NHS is involved and they have been telling him that AHI in the high teens and low 20s was just hunky dory.

Given the severity of the issues and the complexity of the issues....he really needs to see a doctor who knows about this sort of stuff.

Thanks for all the feedback.

btw what is SWJ?

Not sure what to take from all this - this time next week I'll be at the hospital armed with a list of questions, demands. I want to be as well informed as possible.

Obviously, high leak rates are not desirable but can we be sure the machine is not flagging AHIs when they happen?

The sleep doctor has been telling me my AHIs were under 5 - maybe they wwre in the past, but I only see her once a year and that was last in September.

SWJ Sleep/Wake/Junk
Events flagged while awake and thus not real

FWIW here are my Sleepyhead results. The probem is it sttill only seems to be measuring use before midnight. Wish I could find a way to overcome this glitch as otherwise it would save a lot of bother.
