Re: who is gushing the hate HERE????

50% compliance rate (IF people even get as far as TRYING) CPAP is nothing to brag about. PAGES AND PAGES of topic LISTINGS of PROBLEMS with CPAP, including shifting teeth around and jaw soreness and a whole bunch of other things is nothing to be impressed by. I know several people who almost certai...

I was surprised to see all the oral appliance options listed. I haven't heard of some of these: TAP, TAP II, TAP TL, Oasys, Modified Herbst, Telescopic Herbst, Somnomed Appliance, Tongue Retaining Devices, Silent Nite, Silent Knight, Rest Assured, Therabite. [/quote] I found the long, detailed list...

hit the hay after slapping on his mask then before he was fully asleep the air stopped flowing - he pulled it off & found a cockroach stuck in the swivel joint. Sounds like just the kind of place a cockroach would love. Surprised this is the first I've heard of this. Just before I moved away from T...

I don't use distilled water and haven't for 3 out of the 3.5 years I have been on CPAP. Showers are considered one of the biggest sources of indoor air pollution because of the chlorine-related gases they release into the air. Like many people, I dechlorinate my bath water just because the chlorine...

Also, I should note that I did this with a new-style medium, meaning that the innards have hard plastic in them, providing more support than the old style just plain old tubes pillows. YMMV. Oh no! The Aura has been changed and the pillows tubes are now hard inside? Cannot imagine that harder pillo...

Re: My Aura Adjustments

The main problem I had originally was that it was unstable, as many others have mentioned. The wrong twist, turn, etc, would pop the pillows out and leaks galore. Most of this was fixed when I adjusted the horizontal adjustment as far in as it would go, but it still wasn't where I would have liked ...

Re: What nasal pillow do you like?

Have used the Aura/Twilight for over a year and think it is great. I'm usually a side, almost stomach sleeper. It has woken me only 2 or 3 times in all that time. (I use the Aura rubber band fix and a piece of hooky Velcro glued/stapled to the back band.) First interface was Breeze: It woke me 4-5 t...

Re: nasal congestion

i also picked up some ocean nasal saline solution My very sensitive sinuses didn't react too well to that stuff. Think the problem is the preservative. Simply Saline which has no preservatives helped more. I ate a lot of fresh garlic the last time I had a head cold, and that worked wonderfully! For...

But GABA is present in lots of stuff, like rice, it is supposed to be pretty safe. It definitely mellows me out. Might be worth a try. It's a good idea to eat carbohydrate foods only within a couple hours of bedtime as they increase serotonin levels. Protein increases norephinephrine, the neurohorm...

Re: sleep medicines

I thank all of the noble friends who guided me here on the subject of sleep medicines. In reply to Gracie 97, I would like to state, that I have neither any pain nor suffer from any other medical condition, except apnea. I would like to know, that after trying melotinin, ambien and trizadone, which...

Kaiser Permanente

I'm curious about what sort of experiences people here have had with sleep dx and tx at Kaiser Permanente. A close friend has had FIVE overnight sleep evals in the past year with Kaiser Permanente. The sleep doctor told her after the first night that she has one of the worst cases of OSA he'd ever s...

Re: Face mask recommendations please

And Scuba, in case you haven't read this here yet, for headgear that has the tube coming up off the top of one's head, most folks find it helpful to attach the hose to the wall or headboard above their heads about 1.5 to 3.0 feet. Cup hook with a woman's hair scrunchie hooked on it to thread the hos...

For Nasal Pillows, you should add the Aura Headrest Twilight, at least I think thats the current name for it. I am a side sleeper and I love my Aura And another vote for the Aura! For me, Breeze slipped every which way so wound up with sores in my nostrils. Swift, like the Breeze, had to be ...
