It is very easy to Bill a complete mask as a mask kit (frame and cushion) and a head gear. This does not require a prescription.

Read the Q&A in your link. I quickly found twice where the seller said the purchase required a prescription.

You can legally buy mask parts without a prescription and assemble it yourself though.

Well, here in Brazil you can simply buy a machine, a mask and everything. Actually, a prescription is only strictly needed if you're trying to get a machine in the public health system - which makes sense. And, honestly, I believe this is how things should be. First, no one is going to spend months of their salary (yeah, CPAPs are expensive here compared to our minimum wage) with a CPAP just for fun.

And a CPAP is not like a psychotropic drug or uranium. You can buy something with bigger short and long term risk on a liquor store or a supermarket. Actually, it's a bit funny for me to think that you guys are not allowed to buy a CPAP machine or even a humidifier, but it's pretty easy to get a Glock and even an M16 rifle in some places.

For many of us, if it does not require a prescription, medical insurance companies will not pay. Medical insurance will not pay for over the counter medications.

Lol... My mask is on the way! That's right without a script insurance wouldn't cover it.... I just bought a FF but I also want the nose one that insurance gave me. I didn't want to wait to see if I could even get another one covered by insurance. I want to feel better!... Bill

Ditto that. I'm having a hard time imagining why/how someone would "abuse" a CPAP machine much less masks and hoses. Could you imagine the absudity of throwing people in jail for selling/buying a CPAP mask??

Bad news is to buy in parts makes the masks 2-3x more expensive.
