My journey of finding the right mask for me continue.
After short time with F&P Brevida, I couldn’t stop it from leaking. The sound of escaping air was waking me up and I couldn’t adjust it to stop.
Decided to give a try to Aloha nasal pillow mask.
Price is rather lower than other masks and I’m starting to worry if this is an indicator of the quiality?
My two biggest problems: condensation in nasal pillow
It woke me up today. I have my hose heating set for AUTO, so is humidification.
The other problem, painful sores around my nostrils - even pimple.
I got the cream for sore nipples and hoping this will help.
I’m willing to give this mask little bit more time and go thru the pain of adjustment, but is it going to get better?
For sure Aloha is the most leak proof so far and for side and active sleeper, it stays on most of the night (if it wasn’t for condensation and sores).

Re: Aloha pillow mask nose sores :(
For the condensation in the pillows you may need to switch from "auto" to manual and crank up the hose air temp.
I had to do this myself when things turned off cold here and the bedroom air temp dropped and I didn't even change masks.
The Aloha is a good quality mask. Don't let the price fool you. It's just been around a long time and price gets reflected by supply and demand. It's been sort of replaced in the favor market by newer masks like the Brevida or other brands newer masks.
If you end up liking it a lot you might look at getting a barrel cozy for it. Will help with the condensation issues and may help with the pimple issues. If you use the barrel cozy you can probably keep the humidity setting on "Auto".

I have used padacheek barrel cozies...super comfy...feels like silk on the nostrils. They do help when condensation is in the pillow only.

Re: Aloha pillow mask nose sores :(
I really like my Airfit P10 nasal pillow mask. It's so minimalist and quite, but it makes my nose pretty red and sore where it touches my nostrils. I have the headgear stretched out to the point where I have to be careful of leaks so I definitely don't have it to tight. I just have a sensitive nose is all. I've resorted to switching back and forth every week or two to my other mask which is an Airfit N10 nasal cushion. This gives time for things to heal.

Re: Aloha pillow mask nose sores :(
Our nostrils are simply not used to constant contact, and take some time to toughen up -- kinda like learning to play guitar and developing those finger callouses. The first week or two with my P10 were rough, I broke out around the rim of my nostrils like a teenager! There were one or two nights where it was too painful to sleep with the mask all night. But I took great pains to gently clean my skin and treated it through the day with antibiotic ointment, then with lanolin at night after cleaning my face.
After about a week of this regimen, my skin irritation went away, and it's no longer painful to sleep with my nasal pillows. I still get dry skin around my nostrils from time to time but I just put a dab of lanolin on them in the morning after I wash my face and they go away.

Spread thin layer of Ayr saline gel with aloe around your nares til your nose adjusts.
President-pretender, J. Biden, said "the DNC has built the largest voter fraud organization in US history". Too bad they didn’t build the smartest voter fraud organization and got caught.

I hope it's not an indicator of quality – I've been using the Aloha for over 5 years without any significant skin irritation, and suddenly I'm dealing with angry red irritated skin under my nose. I've been wondering if the manufacturing process has changed, using different chemicals/materials or something.cub4bearin wrote: ↑Wed Feb 21, 2018 9:42 am

I hope so too... I am right now 2 months on cpap... have tried a lot of different masks and ALOHA was the first one and only used for 2 night to give me such a flareups.. Had to go back to P10, because I couldn't stand the pain with Aloha.
