New user Intro

Post by jamisonra » Mon Feb 19, 2018 7:37 am

Hello. I am a new cpap user (one Week). I must say I am not sleeping well because I am listening for air leaks around my mask. I am using the Dreammapper software on my phone to follow my progress but it is confusing. Last night I had a 91% Mask Fit which I thought was pretty good since I have a full Santa beard. Yet my AHI was 11.5 and it says I had 38 Total Obstructive Apneas and 60 Total Hypopneas. I thought this was suppose to get rid of the Apneas. I wasn't this high when I had a sleep study. I have a mild case of apnea.

Thank you for listening. I know I can learn a lot about this process from all of you.

I have a FFM because I am a mouth breather.

If you aren't sleeping well it's possible the machine is flagging awake breathing irregularities by mistake.

Is your machine really the DreamStation CPAP machine model #DSX200xxx?
If so it doesn't offer any detailed information that could perhaps help you figure out if the events flagged are real (you are asleep) or SWJ (Sleep/Wake/Junk) not real and can be ignored.
The machine only measures air flow. It has no way to know if you are asleep or awake.

It's what I call a half assed brick. Extremely limited data available to help sort out problems.

So what is my machine?

It's "supposedly" a full data machine, but if you can't ever look at the data it's just a dumb assed brick.

I guess with the warm weather coming up soon, it would make for an interesting target at 100yds...

Max - this is not your thread (and you have at least one new one going today), so please let us deal with the newbie here now so as not to confuse them with others responding to your cranky note.

Since when are people not allowed to comment in other people's threads?

This isn't your thread either, yet you're commenting in it.
