ATTENTION: Upgraded PHPbb Forum Software

Post by carolyngoodman » Sun Feb 11, 2018 2:26 pm

Howdy!

We just launched CPAPtalk on the updated version of the PHPBB forum software. Most of the changes are in the background in database structure and security. The look and functions are close to what you are used to except the following changes:

1) The User Control Panel will now show on the right hand side of the top bar instead of the left hand side.

2) Live Chat will not be in the new version. It is slated for a later update.

3) No more spam button. There is a report button showed by a "!." When you see a post that is spam, if you click the report button it will add the post to a report for moderators to review. Once a moderator approves the spam, the post will then be removed. So the post will not be instantly removed as it was before. Adding back a more intelligent spam button system is slated for a later update.

4) To edit the Wiki, you need to reset your credentials (password).

5) We've implemented reCaptcha, or as you may know it the "I'm not a robot" checkbox that other websites use. This will show up when registering, and from time to time when logging in.

If you have issues logging into your account, you can email carolyn.goodman AT cpaptalk.com

We know the site is loading a little slowly as the database warms back up. If you see bugs/issues with the forum, you can post those issues to this thread.

Regards,
Carolyn Goodman

We seem to have lost the ability to change the size of the font, us old people need that. Jim

Your browser now has much better support for that than the tool we had built into the forum.

In Chrome, you can find this here:

In Firefox, you can find this here:

And in Internet Explorer, you can find this here:

In other words, Mr. Goofproof will now be forced to change the appearance of all web pages in his browser in order for him to get a font that is readable for him here? Or did I misunderstand?

No. It shouldn't change other web pages.
I have used the browser zoom in thing for quite some time now for forum font size to make for easier reading and it has never seemed to affect other websites.
At least that's the way it is with my FireFox.

Equipment profile seems to be broken. Not seeing anyone's equipment at the present time.

Edit...now I see equipment.

Hi

I can log onto the forum just fine using a web browser, but the (android) app Tapatalk is no longer working with the forum. With my slow cellular service/reception, it's easier to use text based forum software

Lucky I'm using 300 readers now

Looks like a change in Browser would be needed, using Avast Safezone. I have touchscreen works fine but must widen each page P.I.A. Jim
The way the old software set the size was fine.

Your browser . . .
Looks like holding down CTRL and hitting the plus/minus keys on the Windows keyboard is a fast way to accomplish page/font resizing in many/most browsers.
