EncorePro 2 - How to set Region or Country?

Post by GBAVAPS30 » Thu Jan 18, 2018 7:55 pm

Hi All! Thanks for all the great PAP advice, information and resources over the years!! This is my first post, but i'm a loooooong time, over 20 years, PAP-er.

So, my question is, how do you set the region or country code in EncorePro 2; such that Encore Pro 2 will display the proper prescription options for my device?

My dilemma is that my GB (Great Britain) version of the Dreamstation AVAPS30 has a feature called Automated Airway Management (AAM), some other countries Dreamstation AVAPS30 do not include this feature, (like the USA)...

When I go into the prescription settings in EncorePro to setup my settings on my SD card, the AAM feature does not show up, so I assume it's defaulting to a country, like USA, that does not utilize the AAM feature.

Changing the Country Address for the Company and/or Patient does not seem to work...

With my old Dreamstation Bipap, I used to change settings through EncorePro so that I would have a record of what settings I changed on what days, so I could more easily track my results based on different settings adjustments that were made...

Thank you!

Respironics and Philips/Respironics machines have always been set to Greenwich Mean Time and then the Encore program takes the time (Time Zone) information from your computer and adjusts it from GMT.

If you're already in GMT, it should be "spot on".

There is no way to change the country that I can find.
Which version are you using? I don't even get a choice for your machine with my version of Encore Pro.

Hi! Thank you for the quick replies!

I am currently using Encore Pro 2 version 2.21.4.1

I have time zone set to GMT, which is my London time

I set the "country" in the address of the Company and t=the Patient to "United Kingdom"

Under the Patient > Prescription tab my machine shows up as a "Dreanstation BiPAP AVAPS 30" when any of the following therapy modes are selected: CPAP, PC, S, S/T, T

According to the product literature, my machine is also supposed to support "AVAPS-AE" mode, but my machine does not show up under that Mode in Encore Pro...

https://philipsproductcontent.blob.core ... 69d34b.pdf

My Model is GBX1130H11 (the GB stands for Great Britain)

I believe that "AVAPS-AE" is synonymous with "Automated Airway Management (AAM)"

https://www.philips.co.uk/healthcare/pr ... ventilator

"Automated Airway Management (AAM)" is only listed as a Dreamstation AVAPS "feature" on certain countries web pages for the DS AVAPS Product...

My DME is no help, they basically gave me the machine and said they had never seen one before, have no experience with AVAPS and so I am am on my own to get is set up!

Your version of Pro is actually slightly newer than mine. I have 2.20xxx.
I was hoping maybe you had an older version of Pro and a newer version might help you out. Doesn't look that way unless there is an even newer version of Pro out there.

Do you actually have this mode available on your machine if you go into the clinical setup menu?

I am sorry but I don't know of any way to make Encore do your desired prescription settings. If there is no option for it then there is no option.
I don't know of any way to make that mode option available to you. Maybe if you could get someone at Phillips Respironics and their software department to talk to you they could help out but they don't typically talk very much to patients about the software stuff because we aren't supposed to be messing with the software.

Doesn't stop you from doing it manually via the clinical setup menu though.

Thanks again for your input!

No, the feature doesn’t show up in the machines clinical setup, that’s why I’m trying to get to it with Encore.

If anyone else has this machine knows how to activate the AAM or AVAPS-AE features through the clinical setup, that would be helpful also.

I downloaded the Service & Technical manual from my.respironics.com, it just says it’s a setup toggle called “AAM” like AVAPS MODE, however I have yet to find the AAM option in the clinics setup menus to toggle it...

You can't do something with Pro that you can't do in the clinical menu. You can't make the machine do something that it has no option available to do.
Now why your machine doesn't have that option...beats me. My guess is that your GB model is slightly different than the same US model.
I know that both ResMed and Respironics often will do slightly different models of the same model when going to different areas of the world or call a feature by a different name.

You might see if you can get someone at Respironics to talk to you about it.
We have very limited forum members here using your particular model of machine to draw upon...maybe I can count on one hand the number of people here using that model and not all are active here.

Hi GBAVAPS30,

The number for calling Philips Respironics UK from within the UK is 0800 130 0844.

The first thing they will ask you is if you are a clinician or a user. In the UK. A clinician may be someone who can place a bulk order, and is thus a valuable customer.

Since you're not a clinician, the person you get put through to will most likely be a general office person. So I suggest you insist on being put through to someone from the technical department. Otherwise, you'll get caught up in a three-way, where the GOP puts you on hold, while they call the tech department. And then they come back to you - and so on.

Annoying, especially if you have a follow-up question or two - which it reads as if you probably will have. 8)
