Do I have to use a heated tube

Post by PeachesCat » Tue Jan 16, 2018 5:16 am

I have an extra long tube which I love. It is not for the humidifier, so I stopped using the humidifer and I need it. Do I need to specifically use a heated tube to use the humidifier or can I use a regular tube?

You can use a longer hose with your humidifier. You don't have to use a heated hose.
Which machine are you using? Most machines/humidifiers have a coupling on the humidifier part that will accept a regular non heated hose and the electrical plug in thingies aren't really needed.

The extra long non heated hose should just fit right in the coupling where the heated hose would plug in.
Most hoses are universal in terms of that coupling thing....do make sure that you change the hose diameter selection in the clinical setup menu though...most of those extra long hoses are 22 mm and you need to make sure the machine doesn't think you have a different diameter hose.

Do you know how to change hose diameter in the clinical menu?
If not go here and request the manual for your machine and it will explain how.

Good morning Peaches Cat,
I have been using a "Long" hose on my machine until just recently when the temp's have drooped. I now use my heated hose and a hose coupler from the sponsor of this sight with an 18" or 20" short hose that i picked up off of Amazon. I use my snuggle hose cover that I picked up from, well don't remember! This helps keep my hose comfortable with the extra coupling near the mask.
Good luck!

I use a 10 foot non heated hose. Been using a 10 footer for years. I need the extra hose for routing. Works great.

No one HAS to do anything.
I have been using a heated hose since my first night in 2010.
I tried a non heated hose one night. That hose didn't make it through the night.

I have used a variety of SleepWeaver masks and others like the Wisp and use the light weight 18" extension between the mask and heated hose whenever one is available.
