Re: Ambien and sleep apnea: GOOD NEWS

Well, it is a double edged sword. Yes, it works, but you then build up a tolerance and need a stronger dose and it wears off quicker. Then because your body gets used to it, if you miss a dose you have rebound insomnia. It can only be filled every 29 days and if that’s the weekend or your prescriber...

Re: Ambien withdrawal

Thanks for the responses. I think I am almost sleeping normal again. I have done CBT in the past, but I became very hypothyroid due to a bad batch of medication. Then I couldn’t stay awake but the therapist thought it was the CBT. I am sleeping 6-8 hours a night and it took over 4 weeks and a lot of...

Ambien withdrawal

I have been on Ambien for several decades. I stopped cold turkey about 4 weeks ago and am now having major insomnia. I also stopped using my BiPap about the same time as I had surgery on my chin and had a big bandage and unable to use my mask. I can only use a full face mask as I can’t breathe out o...

Re: In hospital have odd question

It sounds like the doctor is saying you retain CO2. This is common in diseases like COPD and often a BiPap is prescribed to help with this condition.

Re: Has anyone used Apria Health Care? Whom do you recommend for DME in northern California?

I’m in SF Bay Area and use Nationwide Medical mail order. Yes, you can switch masks when it is time, your Rx has to say patients choice. When I recently got my Resmed bilevel VAuto they faxed an order to the doctor to sign with the specific bilevel I wanted so he wouldn’t have to think about what to...

Re: Covid-19, CPAP cleaning regimen

Of course testing is essential to determine the epidemiology. Some testing is available. My son now has COVID-19 after returning from a business meeting in several European countries. He took masks, sanitizer, gloves, wipes and knew how to protect himself. So what happened? We don’t know, but he sat...

Re: Can patients safely alter the settings to come up with good results

I changed my pressures and just had my annual doctor visit. He printed out a summary for me and never noticed I changed my pressures. I decided not to discuss it with him.

Any advice on settings? It seems from reviewing my data that whenever I am sleeping on my back, I continue to have apneas. Thanks so much

SD Card

I have finally got my new AirCurve 10 VAuto after much wrangling with my DME. It did not come with an SD card and they are not providing one. I need advice on what kind to buy and do I need to format it? I have a Mac if that matters. I would like to look at my own data as my AHI is still often aroun...

Re: MEdicare approval??

Yes, it’s the same DME. It’s actually Nationwide which is mail order. They have sent the request to a local DME provider for distribution who said it needed MEdicare Approval for the AirCurve. When I spoke to Nationwide, they said the doctor just ordered a Bipap. I have had a bait and switch before ...

Re: CEO of Kaiser Permanente, passes away 'unexpectedly' in his sleep at age 60

My sister had minor hand surgery at Kaiser. The anesthesiologist asked if she snores. She was set up with a sleep test, classes and now has a cpap.
