Awakenings

Post by jpeters77 » Sat Dec 09, 2017 9:06 pm

I am interested in knowing how many times during sleep I wake up. Is there a device that will track/show when and how often I wake-up and maybe the levels of sleep and time in them. Something that is somewhat accurate?
Jeff

If you're not using software (like Sleepyhead), you should be.
If you are, then keep a pad and pencil next to the bed and if you wake up, jot down the time. Then, when you look at your reports in the morning, compare the times to the events on the reports to see if there's a pattern.
Keep in mind that we cycle through sleep stages at approximately 90 to 120 minutes.

Den,
Thank you.
I am using sleepyhead and my concern is that I may wake several times and know contentiously know it or chance not going back to sleep if I try to think

Well, it's common for any of us (on or off of this therapy) to wake up (in various degrees) during the nights. It may be just to be to turn over (if you're a side-sleeper like I am) or to adjust the covers, pillow, hose location or any other multitude of reasons.

Given that it's *normal* to wake, or almost wake four or five times a night (google sleep cycles) the *best* thing is just to turn over and go back to sleep, and not worry about it.
