OT? I put a Theravent Max patch inside nasal pillows for fun
OT? I put a Theravent Max patch inside nasal pillows for fun
I did it just to prove I could. That way one patch could be used indefinitely.
Not something I'd use for actual therapy, but I thought it might be better than nothing in a rare one-time emergency to get a little back pressure going.
What I did was to take an old nasal pillows mask and pop off the tube. Then I cut a hole in a piece of blue tape and put the sticky side of the Theravent patch over the blue tape to make the patch easier to work with. I then trimmed the tape and patch so that the notches in the pillows would install ok into the mask with the tape and patch in between the pillows and the part of the mask that the pillows attach to. Now I can use the Theravent patch any time I might want to (which is probably never) but without having to tape anything to my nose.
Please note that Theravent is not designed to treat anything medical--it is only supposed to be used to stop snoring. And I'm not suggesting that anyone else do anything as stupid as what I did. I am a PAP proponent fully and completely. But I like playing around with experimental projects when I get bored. In my opinion, it is how the product should be made in the first place.
I thought that I should confess here publicly what I did, just in case anyone would like to berate me for doing something so ridiculous.

Well, I assume I did it for fun; I sure can't think of any other plausible reason I would do something like that. Where I come from, "for fun" is just another way of saying "as a byproduct of my personal insanity."kteague wrote:For fun? lol You wild and crazy guy!
Hah! I'm sure the makers and sellers of Theravent would prefer that you had deleted my post, since their entire business model is based on someone having to use a new patch every day.Lucyhere wrote:I almost hit the spam button until I realized the post was from you!

You're so clever jnk...
but why no picture?
Could you get to work now creating a mask for MAXINTJ?
He would like a DreamWear style top mounted hose on a full or hybrid mask.
...or if that is too much for you then maybe we can at least create a jingle that would catch the Dreamwear makers attention and let them know what we want? Something so catchy they would be humming it all day?
I was thinking either ...
"Mask maker mask maker make me a mask" ...like Fiddler on the Roof?
...or maybe Sandman ...
"Mr Dreamwear make me a dream
make it the cutest that I've ever seen
top mount my hose so I can roll over
make it as comfortable as snuggling in clover ~~~"
OK ... well I am not a mask maker or ditty writer (like Y U) but I am on the MAXINTJ team of
lobbying for more top mounted options ~~~
...so anyone have ideas for a catchy tune that might get the attention of the folks who can make it happen?
Maybe we could organize a cpaptalk flashmob dance?

...so....is an anti snore device inside a cpap mask,jnk... wrote:Please note that Theravent is not designed to treat anything medical--it is only supposed to be used to stop snoring.
an oxymoron? ...or is it redundant?
...or a conundrum? ...or is this a riddle?
"If your therapy is improving your health but you're not doing anything
to see or feel those changes, you'll never know what you're capable of."
I said that.

What did you just call me?carbonman wrote:an oxymoron
Only dundant, I guess, since it only has to be done once.carbonman wrote:redundant
I like the idea of the science behind provent (which IS designed to help sleep breathing), but I don't like the need for an Rx and the fact that it is expensive and inconvenient to band-aid a new set to the nose every night. And I hate that the application of science is limited by the need for the application of it to be lucrative. But hey it is what it is. So I took a non-rx version and made a way to apply the science without any of the aspects of it that I hate.
I also hate the name. Why is it THERAvent if it isn't a therapy?
I don't have the talent to design and make PAP bed-pillows from scratch like you did, so please just pretend that what I did makes some sense, so I can feel like one of the creative inventive people, OK?

*I* am not smart enough to understand anything science you are saying and not curious enough, yet, to look this up. Maybe it's the name? Like Theraflu? (That's a thing, right?) Maybe it is just the name "theravent" that has not piqued my curiosity? "Max Patch" I *feel* a bit more? But really, ... what IS a Max patch?
...It also seems legally risky to specifically name something that it is specifically not.
(like I think jnk... said)
Particularly when everything is something. So it should be named what it is?
I LOVE "dundent", BTW.
What should this thing be named, jnk...?
(What would describe what it is?)
If I *got* that, ... maybe I could parlay it in to some pseudomarketing science I could pretend to understand?
...but if it's the same thing with a different name ... is it actually something unique and different?
would you create it by naming it as Adam named the animals?
"...and brought them unto Adam to call them and whatever Adam called every living thing, that was its name" (Genesis 2:19)"
***maybe the creative inventive people know the answer to these things?
It's the reason we're all here, right?
