Transferrable Warranty?

Post by Rogue » Wed Nov 22, 2017 9:53 am

Hi!

Is it really possible that a cpap machine would have transferrable warranty?

I believe that if you go to the manufacturer's web site and read their warranty, they say non-transferable

I think it might be transferable at the DME point...not from a private party purchase point.
A DME gets a machine returned...maybe used 30 days...they sell it to someone else and the serial number gets registered to the new person getting the used machine...does he get a 2 year warranty or the remaining warranty and who honors the warranty if there is one on a used machine?
I don't know the answers to those questions....sorry.

Doesn't Secondwind offer warranties on some machines?
I would presume if no warranty is up front, and in writing--then there is none.
This would be when the price comes down, hopefully way down.

They do but I think that they are who is doing the honoring of the warranty and not necessarily ResMed.
Meaning if they take a machine back and can't fix it...they eat the cost of the replacement machine.
At least that is what I think they do...I have never actually asked them how their warranty stuff works.

I have bought all my machines privately...and at rock bottom prices. When I pay rock bottom prices and I feel like I am assuming some of the costs of a "warranty" and haven't ever really expected a warranty.
I feel if having the actual ResMed warranty is that important to a person then they probably should deal with people who can actually back up a warranty in some fashion and that is part of the reason for the higher prices.
It's sort of like insurance...and insurance costs money. If I don't want to pay for the insurance then I accept part of the risk if something happens and get to pay for getting it fixed.

But that's just my own personal look at buying privately and getting rock bottom prices...I accept the risks.
