Anyone have experience using liners?

Post by KyleCPAP » Tue Nov 21, 2017 12:09 am

I just tried bandaids to help relieve the redness/leaking on my philips wisp nasal mask and it worked. I'm wondering if a liner would bring me the same result? It'd definitely be better than wasting bandaids.

The Padacheek liners are really comfortable. When I first started my mask blistered my skin and I used bandaids and lanolin ointment till it healed. Then I started using the liners and they were especially helpful curbing leaks blowing in my eyes with my first nasal mask the N10. After a few months and switching to nasal pillows, I no longer needed the liner.

I'm a great proponent of mask liners, and second the padacheek recommendation, the company was founded by a super nice lady, who's a member here that wanted to help others to do better with their cpaps.... not just someone looking to make a fast buck on the suffering of others, so her stuff lasts a long time.. unlike some other rip off companies that suggest that you throw their cheapies away every day and *BUY MORE!!!!*.

I've been using Padacheek strap covers since day one. By the way, Karen, I'll be callin'... need some new ones!...But for me, the mask liners causes leak rates thru the roof. It has been very frustrating for me and I've tried so many times, I care not to think about it. But that's just me. I have always recommended the liners. If they work for you, then I'm jealous and I'm glad for your success. I am of the minority that can't get them to work.

I bought one from a board member, I love it. It may have a few small leaks but I can usually position myself they quit. The only thing is there is enough material left that it gets in my eyes. Don't like stuff touching the peepers. But all in all, very good success with Pad-a-cheek liner for my Mirage quattro FFM

Kyle, I used Padacheek liners for the Wisp when I was wearing that mask. Very comfortable! I have used her liners for every mask I've tried - I find mask materials make me sweat and the liners help with that as well as with leaks.

I really would like to get some strap covers to prevent the dent on my cheeks, but, I don't see any that work with my device. I have a Philips headgear and a Nuance Progel frame. The gel part seems pretty worthless, but, I've been told that I have to use it since I use the Gel nasal pillows. I like those a lot.

Any suggestions?

Call Karen at Padacheek and explain your problem. She may have one that will work or she might be able to come up with something that would work. She's done custom stuff before.

I am also a BIG fan of mask liners. I have used them for years with a full face mask. I find that they definitely cut down on leaks and also increase the comfort of the mask on my face. I tried the Padacheek liners, but I have had much more success with RemZzzs liners. They are disposable, but I easily use one liner for a week, so for $.83 each that makes about $3.50 a month. I don't think it is the huge financial issue that some people think it is. To me the real issue what mask liner works best for you. I suggest you try both and go from there.

Okay. I will call them. I looked at the website, but, didn't see one for my type. I suppose they could make it custom, if it's not too pricey.
I have tried to improvise by putting little round cotton rounds (the little makeup remover things), but, for some reason they seem to fall out during the night! I can't imagine how that happens. I never have any leaks on my pillow.

I've also found the Nuance Pro gel frame utterly useless in alleviating crease marks on my cheeks. Before finding out about Pad A Cheeks, I MacGyvered this $3 DIY solution which has worked well to this day, not only because it softens the contact area, but because it distributes it over a wider area.

As for nasal mask liners (mine's a Pico), here's my DIY/Pad A Cheek hybrid solution. The best of both worlds. Details here.
