cpaptalk clock

Post by RiverDave » Mon Nov 20, 2017 9:16 pm

Is it just me or is the server clock off by =1 hour? I'm a little OCD and it is bugging me.

Thanks Carolyn. As I'm I. Is it a daylight savings time vs std time issue? Not that big of a deal, just curious.

You may need to adjust the global settings since the recent DST change.

I had to change it from "yes" to "no" when the time changed and if I didn't the times for posting were all off by an hour.

Not an idiot. It was a good question. I don't pay that much attention to the time. But I learned something. You have to manually set DST to have your times correct.

I learned too, not that it matters to me, my computer tells me what the time in here, that's all I need. Time is relative, last thing I need is more relatives hanging around. Jim

Looks like if you live in a backwards area of the U.S. that think we live in the 1800's, and, someone invented them new fangled electric lights, felt we need to play with our clocks. So I chose tonight to set the forum time correct for now and ignore the daylight change when is happens. If them lights go out, so will my computer clock.

@Pugsy - You caught something I didn't know. Sorry @RiverDave, I thought I understood the question, but did not. Good to learn something new about the settings

I don't always jump on changing the global time setting thing right at the time zone changing because I don't always watch when a post gets posted very closely but eventually I will notice it and make the change because I am OCD in that regard.

A lot of people probably don't even notice the posting times...heck often they don't notice that the post is 5 years old that they are responding to.
People just don't pay much attention to the actual time of posting. What usual stands out to me is I glance and realize that I am replying to something that was posted an hour later than I am composing and the light bulb goes off that I need to change the global time thing.
Kinda hard to compose something at 6 PM that is in reply to a post that was posted at 7 PM.

No worries Carolyn or Pugsy. OCD isn't as fun a deal as most would suspect. Carolyn, you answered just fine, no misunderstanding - just a poorly formed question on my part. Now you know. Pugsy, you are a very deep source of knowledge for this place. Each of you have a good night.

THANKS for the reminder.

I had stumbled across that setting & changed it when DST began, but forgot to change is again when DST ended.
