Bleep/DreamPort - anyone have an opinon on this?

Post by fmj13 » Mon Nov 20, 2017 6:38 pm

A DME I have used is sponsoring this - I am curious as to other opinions on it. I am not trying to spam the board - I appreciate other's opinions on Airing, which convinced me to stay away from it.

Ignore it.
Do not waste your money.
Please.
This is an old scam--there is no product, or likelihood of a working model in our lifetimes.

You know I have always said that the "perfect" mask for me would be a nasal pillow mask I could just stick/tape/glue to my nostrils. No headgear...no mouth guard....no nothing but stick the pillows on the nostrils and let the air blow.
I used to joke with my husband about it because his idea was like all men....duct tape fixes everything. "Just duct tape the pillows to your nose"
and I have gone so far as to get the duct tape out and look at it and see if it could be done and not take several layers of skin off the next morning.
So far no guts though...just looked and thought about it.

This guy is sort of doing what I always have joked about doing.

If and when this thing ever makes it to the retail market....I would try it but I won't be contributing money now. I don't have that sort of money to throw away and when people invest in these types of fundraising through places like this...you gotta be okay with throwing the money out the window and never seeing it or anything for that money...just in case.
And I am not that type of person and I don't have spare money to just throw out the window.

I doubt that we will ever see it. Estimated price is $3 per day...$180 per month. .60 per day if covered by insurance that's still $18 per month. Work it out on a yearly basis and see how many CPAP's and masks you could buy.

The OP isn't linking to Airing, it is a different concept, a "mask" that adheres to your nose with adhesive pads. Looks interesting to me, though it clearly won't be for everybody. Makes me want to take an old P10 mask, take off the headgear and lop off some of the tab on the mask the headgear slides over and tape it to my face. Might work.

I'll do that after I've already had a good night's sleep.

The P10 has two rubber bands instead of adhesive. I love the rubber bands.

FINALLY! I've been saying "superglue" for mask leaks for AGES... finally someone's listened (sort of)

'couple things... "12-month supply of DreamPorts (when available) – a $1,400 value" WAAAAAY too rich for my blood.

second, that 3m medical grade adhesive... I've had stuff taped to my nose (ok, a hose going up it and into my stomach) with actual *medical* adhesive... that turned gooey, tacky and icky pretty quick. and required some pads that smelled like lighter fluid to remove (one of the more clued in nurses came up with those).... so, color me dubious.

I think I'll stick with my p10.

This is an interesting idea. One thing though that annoys me is the way the promo video presents CPAP masks, as if the only ones available are clunky uncomfortable FFMs which we know is simply not true. The usual bad mouthing of CPAP masks and how awful they are, and yet no mention of the light weight nasal pillows most of us use. Also, in the fine print it states that people who need to use FFMs won't be able to use this new Dreamport mask so this is a bit of a contradiction right off the bat.

Despite this, I think this is legit and not a scam, but no I too won't be funding because I just don't have the extra cash around and I don't know if I would ever be able to afford this anyway.

So for now I'll also stick with my P10 (but I'm going to try the Dreamware next it looks interesting and Grace's posts about it over the months have inspired me)

I hope though that this gets off the ground because more choice is good.

Bad design IMO (too much leverage to hold nasal pillows in place w/o any headgear). Also, with 1 month left, the "flexible goal" is not even close to being met at 1% .
President-pretender, J. Biden, said "the DNC has built the largest voter fraud organization in US history". Too bad they didn’t build the smartest voter fraud organization and got caught.

I *think* the first one he tests with the faceweight was the p10.

As someone who requires a FFM (and yes, I tried duct taping my mouth shut -- my (now ex-) wife got a good laugh from that, why on earth can't we just tape a FFM in place? Some double-sided band-aid looking stuff should be perfect. I've tried almost everything, and caulking the danged thing to my face isn't out of the question

I don't use nasal pillows, but bear with me for a moment (or bare with me, if you're so inclined -- lol). They have a part that is very flexible that attaches to the hard plastic piece. So, grab a giant bandaid, poke a small hole in the center and stuff the nasal pillow through it, then the nasal pillow into the mask part (with the adhesive side facing toward where the nose goes). Aside from the pad being in the way, so it'd take a really large bandaid, but I think it could be done... so, two holes for the nasal pillows and adhesive all around them, sealing the bandaid to the nasal pillow, then secure it to the nose. Seems like it should be leak proof, within reason (yeah, bandaids do "breathe"). You'd probably have to put it on a few mins before you apply pressure so the bandaid has time to adhere properly. Sorry, I'm rambling.

I used Lansinoh to assist the fit on a full face mask--once.
It actually did work, and left my face with a ring of baby-soft skin in the morning.

A 3 month supply of dreamports (the part that tapes to your nose) along with a the mask and hose is a $350 value? So you take 350 divide by it by 3 and it equals 116.66 a month and divide that by 30 and it totals out to $3.88 a day! Even if you take off $50 for the mask and hose your still coming out to $3.33 a day just for the little nose pieces, regardless I think I'll pass!

DreamPort just got its first review by Lanky Lefty on YouTube. He said at the end of the review “It’s the coolest, most innovative cpap mask I’ve ever seen!”:
