Trouble exhaling with different mask

Post by InnerGlow » Fri Nov 17, 2017 4:09 pm

Is it normal for there to be a difference in exhaling between masks (at the same pressure)? I've been using the Wisp and having no trouble exhaling, but I wanted to try the DreamWear (cushion for now). I had to take it off after a minute or two because it was so much more difficult to exhale. Is that just the design of the mask? Would it make a difference if I use the nasal pillows (they're supposed to be sending me those separately)?

did you tell the machine you changed the mask type
No, I didn't know about that, but it turns out they're both X1 (the Wisp and the Dreamwear).

Not every mask works for every body (or, as Mr x is so fond of repeating, "one size fits nobody") -- it doesn't necessarily mean it's defective, but only that it may not be the right mask for you. Every mask is designed a bit differently, and exhalation ports work slightly differently in nearly all of them. Just curious, did you by chance change the exhale relief setting on your machine (even inadvertently)?

Try it for a couple more nights, try the pillows when they arrive (and do changed the mask setting on your machine if applicable), and make a better-informed decision about which mask works best FOR YOU.
