Hi,
New CPAP user here. I've tried nasal pillow (no-go: mouth breather), AirFit (hurt bridge of nose) and am now on Amara View. This is so much more comfortable, but since switching, something has changed with the tubing and the air is not heating. I have heated tubing, which worked fine with the other masks, and I can feel that the tube is getting warm, but once it passes the connection to the smaller Amara tube, I lose all heat. Also, with the AirFit, I felt warm, WET air. With the Amara, the air doesn't feel moist at all and I'm waking up with major dry mouth, something that finally got better with the AirFit. Does the Amara just not work with heated tubing and moisture? What am I doing wrong? Am I just getting too much leaking?

You need a hose cozy

Heated tubing/CPAP humidifier will work with any CPAP mask.MaisyLou2 wrote:Does the Amara just not work with heated tubing and moisture?
Did you change any settings by mistake? What are your settings? Does the heating element in the humidifier get warm? Does the hose get warm?MaisyLou2 wrote:with the AirFit, I felt warm, WET air. With the Amara, the air doesn't feel moist at all
This shouldn't be necessary with a heated hose.bigdave36 wrote:You need a hose cozy

What temperature and humidity level are you using?
Has the temperature and ambient humidity in your house changed?

No, nothing has changed in my house. Heat and humidity settings are both as high as they can go, which is the same setting I used with other masks. Humidifier's element gets warm, and water level goes down. No settings got changed. I can feel that the main hose is still getting warm, but the mask came with a short hose that attaches to the main one, and that short one doesn't get warm. It doesn't appear that I can take off just that short hose part and attach directly to the heated hose.

You could try using a hose cozy on just the short hose, covering the connection to heated hose but not covering the vent holes. That's what I'm doing this fall. Last year when I began CPAP, I didn't seem to need it; but it has been helpful for this last week or so. Ambient temperatures are likely different than last year.
Also, do you have a preheat function on the humidifier? If you use that, the equipment will have a head start in generating heat before you mask up, and your first breaths should then be warm. I am just discovering this feature, and I find it easier to slip into sleep without dealing with any cool air--in these cooler months anyway.
