oils from face

Post by AMESS » Mon Oct 30, 2017 7:21 am

Can the oils from the face make the mask slide? Go to bed okay. Wake up--mask needs fixing--but wont stay in place.

And do NOT use any moisturizer before bed.

I hear you, but this therapy requires adaptation and compromise. Change your beauty routine to moisturizing during the day. Moisturizing at night will feel nice, but the mask will slide around, then won't keep the seal as well. Trust me on this one. I had to stop using all moisturizers at night and simply wash my face well (I use wet makeup removers for my night time cleaning).

In the morning, I wash and moisturize.

A mask liner would probably help. The cloth will act as a barrier between your moisturizer and the mask, helping it to stay in place. I made my own mask liners. They weren't as easy to use as the padacheek liner, but they served their purpose.

Everyone is different but it sounds like you may have answered our own question in your post. If you find the mask is slowly moving around on it's own you can try cleaning the mask seal really well with a gentle soap and water. Give it a good rinse so it feels sqweeky clean then wash your face with a good face soap as well. If the mask stays and doesn't move any more then you know the issue.

This may sound a bit tmi to some who clean their masks every day but I find a "little oil" from my face helps the mask seal better.

Back when the FF quatro was my mask I used to hate having to use a new face cushion as it would stick to my face in some places too well and move in others. I had to break in the mask. Like seasoning a pan. After a few nights it would seal wonderfully and I wouldn't have any further issues till it was time to replace it again. I wipe my mask out with a baby wipe and now and then I'll wash it really well with soap and water.

With my new mask the FF air 10 they changed the surface of the seal. Instead of the ultra clear seal of the quatro it has a frosted appearance like someone dusted it with baby powder. I no longer have this break in issue with the frosted cushion like I had with the quatro. Anyone else still using the quatro may be able to relate.

I'm not advocating you never clean your mask but everyone is different. Only time and experience will show you what will work for you.

We're all a varied bunch. You take all the advice you get and work through it to try and find what will work for you. Some times you'll have to experiment a bit to test out ideas or suggestions to see if they apply to you. Keep taking notes if your still sleepy and apt to forget what has worked and what hasn't.

Wish you the best.

My mask (nose) is foam (airfit20). I clean the nose piece nightly with the CPAP wipes. Think its a crap shoot here.

You get the nose piece nice and clean and then put it on over your facial creams...Very smart.
