Resperonics Amara View Mask Blowout
Resperonics Amara View Mask Blowout
Seems I am having an Amara View mask blowout. The machine is ramping up faster than the mask can take it. The Drs office set the pressure. Does anybody know how to get into the machine to change it with going to drs office with the machine? And, has anyone had this problem?? Thanx

Re: Resperonics Amara View Mask Blowout
Your machine actually doesn't increase the pressure very fast at all. I used the View with a machine that does increase the pressure really quickly and didn't have blow outs.
What machine are you actually using and at what pressure setting and are you using ramp or not?
And yes, settings can easily be changed but we need to know what machine you are using to be able to tell you how.
When you have time you might want to add your equipment to your profile so we can see at a glance what you are using.
wiki/index.php/Registering_Equipment_in_User_Profile
Are you using the mask fit option feature? If not, you should because you need to fit the mask at your 14 cm pressure and not what it starts with when you first turn it on unless you are using fixed cpap mode with no ramp.
Fitting at 4 to 6 cm when machine is first turned on isn't going to work so great when the machine finally gets to 14.
You have to do the fitting at 14.

And what are your pressure settings? What pressure do you fit your mask at the beginning of the night?
And if you don't know how to find out...read this manual.

You need to do two things IMO. First is get sleepyhead so you can see the pressure profile and set the operating range to the correct narrower range. After that then using the check mask leak feature before you start the night's therapy which lets the machine run at the max selected pressure so you can fit your mask appropriately.
And one more thing. If you go to the user control panel, you can select keep me signed on and never have to mess with the signed in /not signed in mess anymore.

Re: Resperonics Amara View Mask Blowout
Okay, you start the night at 5 cm and probably fit the mask at 5 cm but the fit doesn't work so great when you hit 14.
You need to anticipate the 14 cm by fitting at 14 cm at the beginning of the night.
This is where the mask fit function on your machine can help you out. It will deliver higher pressures while you are fitting the mask so that hopefully it won't be so leaky at 14 when you hit the higher pressures. Once the mask fit option is completed it will revert back to the 5 cm starting pressure so you can go to sleep.
Your machine doesn't change pressures rapidly..it can't go from 5 to 14 in a blink of an eye. It actually takes several minutes to get there assuming it doesn't stop along the way.
The leaks at 14 are simply because you fitted for 5 cm and what works fine at 5 doesn't work so great at 14.

Re: Resperonics Amara View Mask Blowout
I used that mask when my pressie was running around 20 cm all night long. Once I got it adjusted, it worked fine. At that time, my pressure was set to 20 - 25. If you use the max fit function on your machine, it will give you three minutes to get your mask adjusted. I would adjust it sitting on the side of the bed, then lay down and check the fit. I would just let the machine continue to run in the mask fit mode until it Timed out and started running normally. I still do the same thing with my current mask.

Re: Resperonics Amara View Mask Blowout
You'll probably find it less likely to leak once you can work out your optimum pressures. I have been using this mask for 5 nights now and have had some minor leak issues, not loud and farty but enough to disturb my sleep, checked sleepyhead and nothing majorly over the red leak line. I kept making some subtle strap and positioning adjustments until I got it right, you have to patient with any mask to get it to fit right, and that can take several nights. Running the leak test and finding your optimum pressures may help but sometimes it just may not be the right mask for you.AMESS wrote:machine is set to go from 5-20--but hangs around 14
