Not going to happen. Using the cpap makes me feel worse than not. The reason I posted was simply to make the case for suicide as a solution. I gave cpap 2 1/2 years, and while I initially felt better, I later found new fatigue. Now my once okay life has been turned upside down because of this disease. I tried cpap, but it just didn't give me the rest that others seemed to get. And honestly I don't see the value of dragging my tired ass through everyday.

If you haven't sen a sleep doctor I suggest you get one. It will only get better. I do not self treat. Many here do. In your case you need help from a professional--at least to get the ball rolling. Good luck

Not using XPAP correctly for treating your sleep apnea, is a form of suicide, a slow form. Jim

You may have been asked this before, but have you, outside of treating apnea, done thorough vitamin, mineral, and hormone testing? There are things, such as a Vitamin B12 deficiency, that are not routinely tested but can affect every aspect of a person's mental and physical health.

I don't know that I get the rest others get here. Or that my numbers get perfect. What I know is I have a condition. I know that if I don't treat it somehow what will happen is that I will not get enough oxygen to a whole bunch of organs. Maybe I will feel tired. Maybe I will feel a different kind of tired. Maybe I will get depressed. It all sucks and I have 2 choices. Do nothing or do something.

And I have chosen both at different times. Not going to lie. Not doing something can be a lot easier. When I'm asleep. I don't know that I stop breathing. I don't know that I am snoring. I don't know a lot of things so I can pretend none of it is true or matters.

Even doing something can be very annoying and disappointing. With action I get to squeak and squeal. I get to have aerophagia and lovely expulsions of gas sometimes with and sometimes without my permission. I get dry mouth, like something died in your mouth during the night. I get to fight with DMEs and I get to be pissed off here sometimes when I am looking for help and I get attitude instead.

All that and a lot more. But either way, I still have a condition. And that condition can help create other conditions. So whats the value of dragging our tired asses through the day? For me, tired or not, its just not all that I am and all that I can do. I can choose my reaction even if I can't choose my condition.

I always promised myself that I would try some outside the box things before I ever gave up on myself. I have been to those dark places. Bad sleep doesn't help, but there are many ways to solve problems. Keep talking.

If cpap causes more problems than it fixes in terms of sleep quality then investigate other potential ways of dealing with sleep apnea.
They may not be perfect but some therapy is better than no therapy.

She prefers to try to try making new masks into used ones. I'd take her advice and will as XXXZX's, NOT! Jim

Well deadly, the sleep study showed me how many events per hr I was getting (68 per hr) Before the sleep study I knew zip. How would I have gotten this info? Not a psychic. Having my fill now after 6 weeks of therapy changing masks. Think I got it now res med Air fit 20--but have to get used to it. Events now 1.9--no leaks. The mask is FF and bulky. Has memory foam and YES it works better to prevent leaks than silicone.

In the beginning its my opinion if you dont know what u r doing then seek professional help. After that and you get moving along--no doc.

Deadly::: in the beginning -if you have no clue what you are doing then professional help may be the way to go. Example--I had no idea I had sleep apnea. CArdiologist asked me to go for a sleep study. . Surprise -surprise--68 events per hr. How would I have gotten this info on my own? After you get moving along you can drop the doc.

Into therapy 6 weeks and yes, some challenge with masks. Have gone through bout 6. Now have res med sir fit 20 . It has foam and Yes it gives better suction than silicone. Now down to 1.9 events per hr and virtually NO leaks.

AMES, I'm guessing you are not capable of taking care of yourself. See a doctor.
