My ResMed AirSense 10 is whistling

Post by BlackRaven135 » Sun Oct 08, 2017 1:54 pm

When I first began to use it that was not the case, but last night as soon as I hooked and turned
on the machine it began whistling/whining etc.
I shut it off and restarted it again and it was quiet.
Does anyone else have the same problem and have you any idea what may be causing it?

Usually a leak in the hose or hose connection.

My AirSense 10 does this all of the time - IT IS SO ANNOYING!!!

My local DME told me to call ResMEd and see about getting it replaced under warranty -- its no longer under warranty so I was told to deal with it. I am thinking the problem lies with the silicon pieces that the humidifier tub locks on to. I will stick my fingers and manipulate the silicon and it will mostly stop the whistling. Truth be told I really do not like this particular machine.

That silicone fitting is REPLACEABLE. Order a new piece.
Cpap.com has it. Ask for:
Humidifier Chamber Air Outlet for ResMed AirSense™ 10 and AirCurve™ 10 Series CPAP and BiLevel Machines
The price is under $10. (Shipping might be free if you buy enough other stuff or use a code.)
Or you could ask Resmed to send you the part . . .

I thought mine did too and was about to complain. Then I found out it was the husband in the other room using his electric tooth brush!

Slightly late in the day but this is driving me nuts. It's usually okay at first but in the middle of the night the whistling noise is absolutely awful; I've never been able to find out where it's coming from, though. It sounds like it's the mask but I can't figure out how or where, and all the connections between it and the machine seem very secure.

I have noticed that the humidifier leaks badly (condensation, not air, I mean) so I'm now wondering if it's that. I contacted Resmed as I was concerned it had been leaking into the machine and maybe that's why the air was so cold but they never replied.

Vometa,

Contact your sleep clinic with your concerns and get an appointment with one of the nurses. They will be able to check your machine for noise, pressure and any other concerns you have. I don’t know how you get in touch with your sleep clinic some nhs trusts do drop ins others you need an appointment but if you phone them someone will be able to advise.

That sounds like a plan. The nurses there are a good bunch and the only problem tends to be the parking! Also apologies to Mr/Ms Raven135 for pinching their topic.
