Mirage FX For Her

Post by MudHappy » Thu Oct 05, 2017 12:02 pm

I recently gave it a try because my original mask (just started Bipap last January) broke, but I am holding the clip on with scotch tape. I decided to try a new mask all together because there were things I wasn't crazy about with my Aerie mask. So the Mirage FX for her felt great until I wore it at bedtime. The nasal cushion is SO SMALL! I looked and realized they gave me a small cushion, so I ordered a standard. That one is a little too small too. I was shocked at the difference between the new cushion and my old one. It's like when I try to breathe, it slightly pushes on my nostrils and I can't breathe as well. There was more room in my older one. So now I'm resorting to wearing my old mask again. Anyone else have this issue? My nose isn't THAT big! I have heard you have to try different masks to find one you love, and I love the Mirage FX for her, but I am wondering if the next size up cushion is even going to work. If not, I guess my search will continue...

I have just started with res med fx for her. My problem is the therapist gave me a medium and its too big. Ha ha just the opposite. Today, I exchanged it for a small. Will see what happens tonight. I like this mask. It is my 5th exchange one in a month. I can roll over and it does not leak much. Since there are no pillows nothing falls out of the nose. Its a crap shoot getting the right mask. Not easy.

In my limited experience, I found that when the mask was pushing against my nostrils that I had the mask too tight. I don't know if that is the same in your case, but maybe something to look into?

Small mirage FX for her--not right. Think not enough cushion under the nose. AHIs --5. Most I have had since starting this a month ago. Leaking from under the nose. Could not control it. Going back to medical place and getting my old medium res mirage back. Yes, have to give small back. No real problem with medium except I thought it was too big. Guess big is better in this case.

At some point you going to decide the mask choice is not going to get any better. I don't think there is such a thing as a perfect mask. I went through ten or twelve masks before I settled on the Amara View. I used that mask for over a year before I switched to the F20 mask I am currently using. When I see a new mask on the market, I will buy one and try it. If it works for me, I keep it. If it doesn't work, I pass it on. I am still looking for the perfect mask.

Okie--I am finding out already that all masks have problems. The good news that I have gone from 68 AHIs per hr to 2.4 per hr even with leaks. That alone makes it worth while to keep trying. Dr says do not worry about leaks if numbers are good. .

Dumping resmed fx for her. Small size too small. Standard too big and comes too closes to the eyes. Both leak.
