EPR (Exhale pressure relief) is for people who have trouble exhaling against air pressure at times... 3 being the high setting for that, 1 the low. But if you don't feel the need of it, don't use it. However your pressure settings might not be adequate if you're still waking up in 4 hrs for the bathroom... it might be a good idea to download (free) Sleepyhead and see what's going on overnight.

EPR on a ResMed machine drops the pressure during exhale 1 cm per setting choice
Setting of 1 is a 1 cm drop
...2 is a 2 cm drop
...3 is a 3 cm drop.

EPR is strictly at comfort feature use it at whatever setting allows you to sleep comfortably at the pressures you use.

Sometimes when the pressure is already at the lower side of optimal effectiveness the reduction when using any exhale relief and sometimes allow the airway to collapse. It's usually easily fixable with a little bit more minimum.
Without software reports we can't tell for sure if you happen to fall into this category or not.

Using a starting pressure of 15 without ramp and without exhale relief is going to be a bit of a challenge especially when someone has been using EPR of 2 for a couple of years. It is your choice though. Comfort items are personal preference choices. You can use whatever you like or don't use it...choice is yours. Ramp is also a comfort item.

The trips to the bathroom after 4 hours is troublesome. While there are other causes for nocturia it is also a primary symptom of sleep apnea and in your case potentially sub optimal therapy for some reason. Always best to check things out using software to make sure.

You have a ResMed machine and sounds like one of the AutoSets which is full data...so it should work fine with SleepyHead.
