SleepyHead Problem & Questions

Lately, when I try to run SleepyHead on my Win10 PC, nothing happens. The program does not run, and checking Task Monitor does not show anything. (In my experience, sometimes a program "doesn't run" because some element of it is partially running a failed process.)
Q1) Has anyone else experienced this?
Q2) Where can I get a copy? I'll uninstall and reinstall.
Q3) If I uninstall and reinstall, what will happen to all my old data?

It would be wise to create a folder somewhere, specially for copying data from your SD card as a backup. Of course lock your SD card before insertion (as usual), and then navigate to the SD card folder containing dated folders. Sorry I don't recall the file structure, but it is pretty obvious once you get in there. Copy all of the data (highlight all of the dated folders) to your backup folder.

If you ever have a problem in the future, or change software, at least you have all of the raw data.

The actual storage of all the past data is in a folder in your MyDocuments folder and is untouched with an uninstall.
So if you don't manually remove the folder in MyDocuments it will still be there to draw from with a new install.

Thanks, all. I uninstalled the earlier version, rebooted, successfully installed the new version - and still the program does not run.

I have Windows 10 and this latest version of SleepyHead and it does run. So it will work well with Windows 10.

So what messages are you getting if any?

We need details as to what you are doing and where/when it fails. "Doesn't run" isn't much help.

What model machine are you using?

If you put the SD card in the slot on your computer can you go to the drive letter and look inside the SD card?

Pugsy, I appreciate your time. I'm pretty adept with computers, and this puzzles me.
1) Program worked on this PC before. I last ran it maybe 4 weeks ago.
2) I hadn't changed the Sleepyhead software.
3) There are no error messages - I tell SH to run, my cursor arrow turns into the normal spinning circle, and then nothing happens at all and my cursor becomes an arrowhead again.
4) There have of course been myriad changes to my PC since the previous time I ran SH, maybe a month ago. Operating system updates, other software updates, etc.

My main goals posting are:
1) to see if others have experienced it (maybe some Windows update broke SH, and many people would have the same issues).
2) to solicit SH expertise (how do I get in touch with the developer? Surely he or she would like to see my event logs)?

Is it possible your security or antivirus software is preventing it from running?

I clicked out Pugsy's link to see if I was upto date and discovered an easy way to donate to JediMark. I have used SleepyHead for four years and never done so. Clink on the Link to say thanks and help him out.

Mark has been AWOL for quite some time. You can try contacting him via PM here but I haven't heard from him in over a year I think it has been. He hasn't even been here on the forum since May of 2016.

I was using this version when I updated this laptop from 8.1 to 10 Windows...and it works fine.

Can you see the SD card contents if you go to the drive letter where the SD card sits?

When you say you tell SH to run and it just goes round and round and nowhere...you are clicking on the program in the programs list on the left side?
Have you made a shortcut with the Sheep icon?

I have had no problems with SleepyHead over the past year. However, last week I missed one night of data because I forgot to put the SD card back in my machine. Now when I look at the SleepyHead statistics data, everything looks OK (having shown I have less than 100% compliance) and the rest of the summary data looks OK. However, my 90% leak rate is now showing zero for all time periods through past year. It certainly wasn't that way before as I do have leak problems. Any thoughts as why this p;art of the data is zeroed out?

I've run into similar weird issues in the past and I'm also pretty adept at computers.

I would suggest to try to see if you have an image (see system restore) saved on your windows system and try to go back a few weeks and see what happens,
assuming it works again ,it might also help point you to what is causing conflicts.

I don't want to mess with my computer-- too many important things on there. Unless someone else has an idea, I'll just let it go as is. I have some leaks, but I feel good.

Just a shot in the dark, but you said you've reinstalled the software. You might want to read about the two versions of the software (OpenGL and BrokenGL). You might need to run the other version. Please see this link. https://sleep.tnet.com/resources/sleepy ... okenoropen
