Swerve

Post by kteague » Tue Sep 19, 2017 2:30 pm

Can't say for sure if it's again or still, but my personal opinion is that it is still. There's a proliferation of active baiting identities on the forum right now, and sometimes the similarities to past and/or other current language or style make me go hmmmm. Making a commitment to myself to do myself a favor and measure my responses more sparingly. If we get some poor desperate soul here who is just irritable from sleep deprivation that's one thing, but I'm sooo over posters (yes plural) who habitually include textbook classic bait lines and topics to insure a response. And how occasional seemingly legitimate posts are interspersed between the garbage just to keep us strung along. Do you really think you have everyone hoodwinked? Anyhow, I'm not gone, just doing this on my terms and not allowing myself to be yanked around any further to no good end. If there's anything I should have learned in 66 years of living is that people who are determined to be angry, unhappy or miserable will find an excuse to be so. Trying to convice them to be otherwise is an exercise in futiity, and frankly, not my responsibility.

As long as unsigned posting is allowed, the door is open, we are doomed to deal with the draft. Not that that would stop the wind, we still have windows open and broken. There will always be a storm, it's nature..... Jim

I agree with the above statements. All the riffraff posters NEVER sign in. I think they are here just to stir a pot then sit in a corner and giggle. I have learned a lot from this forum, several people really know their stuff. Now I just read for entertainment and get angry at some of the unregistered "guests" but my guess is they are not going away anytime soon.

Of course I agree with you, Kathy. Coming here has been pure entertainment for me for a long time now. If it's a boring day or I'm not feeling well, I can count on this forum to give me a laugh or get annoyed enough to add my two cents. I'm fortunate that I no longer need help on this sleep apnea journey. It's a shame that new people who come here are met with the likes of the people you speak of. The other day someone wrote an excellent post on why the Goodmans don't get involved. I finally understand why after reading it and realize that it doesn't matter what is said here, or who says it. It's not going to change.

I came here for help-- understanding and educating myself on my CPAP machine, mask, settings and my Sleepyhead statistics so I could better manage my own sleep health. I have found a few very educated and kind people who have helped me so much and I have also found a lot of "excess." The excess is growing by leaps and bounds in the short time I have been on the forum. It is like a freak show set up their tent right next to mine, lol. Sometimes I feel the need to grab some popcorn--or a beer--or wine.

When any kind of forum exists, there will be trolls. It's a fact of internet life. My choice is to ignore the antics and seek out the helpful people and sometimes that takes a will of iron.

There's a textbook for classic baiting?

Who does this sound like?

Because it sounds to me like you want to give YOUR advice, what YOU'VE learned, in the hopes that it will help others. That in and of itself is a noble cause. Now, it is completely unrealistic in any sane way that someone would actually believe that in a forum they would never be challenged. Unless this is your first time on the internet, you should know this. If it is your first time then I'll let you in on a little secret... *whispers* human beings disagree... I know, its crazy! Its unfair! Get used to it buddy. This is the jungle, get ready to be challenged. Cant have open discussion without challenging each other. You don't want to be challenged? Start a blog.
