Error Code/Service Required

Post by Need Help » Sat Sep 16, 2017 8:48 am

Greetings...I've had a Respironics M Series Auto CPAP w/C-Flex for 10 years and it's been a good, reliable machine. Now when I turn it on, the control button lights on top blink on and off, then a double beep starts and the display shows "Service Required". I have never had a service issue so does anyone have a suggestion where to have it serviced? I live is San Diego but I assume it might have to be shipped elsewhere. Last night was only the 2nd night in 10 years I've attempted to sleep without it so I'm a little freaked out.

acbio.com

However, your machine is old, and five yrs past the time insurance co's usually supply new ones to people. You're probably better off getting a new one, if not thru insce, then from somewhere like Secondwindcpap.com who are very reliable and great to deal with (and no, I don't work for them... but many of us have dealt with them and gotten great service).

Is the DME (place where you got the machine 10 years ago) local to you and still in business?
Do you have insurance that will pay for a new machine?

If you have insurance and still have access to where you got the machine originally...check with them as they may just be able to get you a new machine and bill your insurance.

I imagine it requires more than just "service"...something died and it's going to cost more to fix it than it is worth.
Heck it will cost more to just ship it than it is worth and acbio.com has a minimum fee of I think $50 just to diagnose the problem. Worth it for a newer more value machine but not for a 10 yr old machine.

It's time for a new machine or at least a new gently used machine.

Do you happen to have a RX for cpap so you could buy online? If not your primary care doctor could issue a RX.

Unfortunately, my insurance doesn't cover. I originally purchased from CPAPdotcom so they should have my RX on file. I was afraid it might be time to bite the bullet again to get a new machine. Thanks for your posts!

Cpap.com should still have your RX on file so should be fairly simple to get another one.
If you are looking at Respironics be sure and call for pricing if you see "call for pricing" shown.

If all you need or want is fixed pressure cpap...they have a sale on the PR System One 60 Series Pro CPAP machine for $369

Looks like the humidifier is free and includes the heated hose.

Yes you should be set then.

Now you know why we all have a backup cpap - check craigslist in the "Health & Beauty" section for used and new cpap just make sure its a reasonable price.

This is EXACTLY what happened to my husband's CPAP last week. I got a new one two years ago (PR1) and my M Series became one of my two backups at the time. My husband's Series M died shortly after so he got my old Series M. Then last week, at 10-1/2 years old, that Series M started doing the exact same thing as you described. Fortunately, he had a backup someone had given him. Not a great machine, but it's at least a machine. To me, the Series M is just too old try to to get fixed.
