Bags under eyes?
Bags under eyes?
I think I've cracked the code with mouth breathing and the Amara View mask by using a neck collar. But now I've got bags under my eyes that last all day? What in the world?

Re: Bags under eyes?
It may technically be "okay", but I don't like having my mouth dried out. I used to used a nasal pillow mask, Swift for Her, and it's great, except for having to tape my mouth shut to keep the air from rushing out. I bought the Amara View to see if that will work for me. My mouth still falls open, but the neck collar keeps it closed. No dry mouth.MaxINTJ wrote:I thought mouth breathing was OK with a FFM?skylark40 wrote:I think I've cracked the code with mouth breathing and the Amara View mask by using a neck collar. Re: Bags under eyes?
Hmmmm... I hate the dry mouth from my nasal mask opening the wind tunnel occasionally. Do you think the collar would work if you went back to the nasal mask?skylark40 wrote:It may technically be "okay", but I don't like having my mouth dried out. Re: Bags under eyes?
Bags under the eyes...edema. Something is inhibiting the normal circulation that keep fluids dispersed instead of pooling and causing the eye baggage. I will even get it with my P10 if I lay on my side for very long. The straps impede the normal circulation.
Highly annoying for sure.
You might try some strap covers to lessen the direct pressure of the straps and/or loosen them just a bit.

Re: Bags under eyes?
Nope, I tried it with my nasal mask and the air just blows on through. I really, really love the nasal mask, but taping my mouth shut seems kinda dangerous.MaxINTJ wrote:Hmmmm... Actually, I use the protective soft covers I bought for the Swift for Her mask on the Amara View straps. It helps, but I think I sleep on my left side and the straps still slow circulation. The bags are worse on the left side of my facePugsy wrote:Bags under the eyes...edema. Re: Bags under eyes?
Yep...the side that is down gets the worse bags...gravity is at play also.
Obviously a combination of things and I have never found anything to avoid getting them totally except tossing and turning to either side a lot.
Damned if you do and damned if you don't.

Re: Bags under eyes?
Just as an aside I've been taping my mouth shut with the Swift FX for 2.5 years and it's not an issue. I use a paper tape that is very easy to remove if necessary. The experts say, well, what if you vomit in your sleep? Yet somehow I have made it to over a half century old and have never once thrown up in my sleep. That might be more of an issue for people with specific medical problems, children, or people who go to bed drunk. None of that applies to me. I think that nonrestorative sleep is more of a real, immediate threat to my health than this minuscule possibility.

One day (soon I hope) I hope my only worry is bags under my eyes...
Not a big deal really, I've had them for years anyway

Re: Bags under eyes?
Apart from the whole "I hope I don't barf in my sleep" thing, I have issues with some adhesives causing rashes, etc. I was using a micropore tape, which wasn't bad, but unless I stacked two pieces on top of each other, the air would blow right through the tape. And I'm not even using that high of a pressure!AMK wrote:Just as an aside I've been taping my mouth shut with the Swift FX for 2.5 years and it's not an issue. Re: Bags under eyes?
This is going to sound strange, but I have found the best way to get rid of bags under the eyes is a little dab of Preparation H rubbed into the skin. Seriously, it really works!skylark40 wrote:I think I've cracked the code with mouth breathing and the Amara View mask by using a neck collar. But now I've got bags under my eyes that last all day? Yes, I have heard that it helps some but I have tried it on more than one occasion and didn't do a darn thing to reduce the puffiness.

Well, it does work for me. It makes sense, since shrinking hemorrhoids is pretty much the same idea as shrinking bags under eyes. I'm 73, witgh bagless eyesMaxINTJ wrote:Say it isn't so!
