Declining results

Post by Graham2401 » Fri Sep 08, 2017 8:28 am

I am a new CPAP user. I started on May 19th after a sleep study showed I was having over 32 episodes per hour. I have Resmed AirSense 10 model and use a full face mask as I tend to be a mouth breather. My average episodes per night for June was 4.0, for July it was 3.5, for August it was 4.8, but for the first 7 days in September it has averaged 5.8 with only 2 of those nights being under 5.0. It seems as it the episodes have been slowly inching up over the past 3 weeks or so. Is this anything to be concerned about? I am feeling a bit "fuzzier" when I wake up in the morning with readings in the 7 or 8 range. Thanks.

Without seeing some data it's very hard to give advice. It would be good to know what the AHI events were. How about leaks?

I am certain more knowledgeable folks than myself will be along shortly, but in the meantime may I suggest you start by reading through Pugsy's Pointers in the pinned posts (say that five times fast!)? It sounds like you're not getting optimal therapy, as an AHI of 5 is still considered mild apnea and can be enough to cause overall fatigue and that "fuzziness" you are experiencing. We can help get you dialed in and sleeping better, stick around!

Exactly which model are you using? There are 4 to choose from. Model name is clearly stated on the face of the machine.

AirSense 10 CPAP
AirSense 10 Elite
AirSense 10 AutoSet
AirSense 10 AutoSet for Her

Good. The AirSense 10 AutoSet is a full data machine and works well with SleepyHead software so you can evaluate your therapy in more detail than just the AHI shown on the machine or through the MyAir website thing.

Then if you want member input on what you see
Read these

https://sleep.tnet.com/resources/sleepyhead/shorganize 3 pages here be sure to read all 3 pages
and for examples this thread

Couple of questions..
Are you taking any medications of any kind? If so, what?
and
Are you experiencing very many awakenings or arousals during the night?

What are your pressure settings? If they're too low they may not be effective.
