Machine not working-?? How to check??
Machine not working-?? How to check??
I bought a craigslist Resmed Airsense10 Auto, zero hours. I've used it the last 2 nights, and my gut tells me something isn't right with it. For 2 1/2 yrs, my AHI is almost always 1 or 2. When I used the new machine, it shot up to 6 and 7. There was even one session that was AHI 75!! I woke up feeling like I did pre treatment.
I triple checked all the settings, they are correct. Now, what to do with this machine? Where can I send it to have it checked out? I looked to buy a manometer (?) but it was $75. Obviously, something is wrong with it.
Is there a legit Resmed repair place I can ship it off to? I'm in St Louis if there is a local place.
Thanks.

Very easy to check if the machine is providing the desired pressure.Cardsfan wrote:I bought a craigslist Resmed Airsense10 Auto, zero hours. Detach the mask from the hose. Shape the hose so that it forms a "U" (hose runs from machine towards the ground and back up). Pour water into the hose so that you have a column of water ~20 cm measured from the lowest point. Make note of the water level and then turn on the machine. If the pressure is 4cm-water, then the water will lower by 2cm on one side of the "U" and raise by 2cm on the other (total water height change is 4cm).
See this for a description https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pressure_measurement

Re: Machine not working-?? How to check??
You want to check that the pressure you operate at are correct and that sounds a bit messy to me.TedVPAP wrote:Pour water into the hose so that you have a column of water ~20 cm measured from the lowest point. Make note of the water level and then turn on the machine.
How much would it cost to have it checked by someone else?Cardsfan wrote:I looked to buy a manometer (?) but it was $75. Obviously, something is wrong with it.
I say spend the money on a manometer esp if it is less than having it checked somewhere else. This way you can also check your other cpap and have it for future use.

Re: Machine not working-?? How to check??
Thanks everybody. I'm going to contact ABICO. see what they say.
Even if I do the pressure check myself, no matter what it says, my GUT is telling me something is wrong with it. I woke up at 4am with a headache, pounding heart, having to rush to the bathroom and the AHI was abnormally high. I switched machines, went back to sleep for 4 hrs and with my old machine my AHI was 0.4.
That happened 2 nights in a row trying out this new machine.
Thank goodness my first machine I was treated with functioned properly. Could you imagine if you are newly diagnosed and get a malfunctioning machine. What a mess that would be.

Re: Machine not working-?? How to check??
Maybe the person or place you bought it from has a way to check it. Won't hurt to ask.
Re: Machine not working-?? How to check??
You're looking at the wrong ones, mine came off ebay, and was less than 30$.Cardsfan wrote: I looked to buy a manometer (?) but it was $75.
You can also make one with some water and clear tubing... or just stick the end of your hose into a pitcher and see how far down you get before bubbles come out.
maybe, what's the *data* say?Cardsfan wrote: Obviously, something is wrong with it.
