Can ANYONE donate a AutoBipap

Post by Jimmycrackhorn » Tue Aug 15, 2017 5:02 am

I'm trying.

This machine intake on my remstar pro whistles loudly.

I literally tried sleeping without the machine for a week and couldn't. I had massive, horrible fatigue.

So I went back on it and feel sleep good the first night and did OK.

But then last night, again, I started hearing that whistling. I have had this happen so many times it literally give gives me massive anxiety and I can't fall asleep after.

I have tried everything to stop it.

I need a new machine if there is anyone willing to donate. My Medicaid will not pay for another machine yet so I'm screwed. The machine I'm using is my room mates because he has auto-trial time left that I do not do I can't exchange it for a different machine.

Please if there's anyone that can help please message me. I'll even try to work out a payment plan for later. Private message me if you can help. I'm literally suffering horribly lately and I can't take much more.

PLEASE.

And thanks.

try ear plugs... even a loud fan in the room to help drown out any noise

No sure thing a AutoPap will cure the problem, it might sing instead of whistle. Get and run a White Noise machine, or loud fan, or motor, rain noise machine even, something to drown out the noise.

Now that you have heard a noise, your brain will keep obcessing over it, if you can't control your brain you need to mask the problem. Jim

I agree with earplugs and/or a while noise machine or even music or a radio. I am very sensitive to noises like that, so I understand how it can drive you crazy.

Maybe I'm missing something here but if your Medicaid paid for this machine then the DME you got it from must honor a warranty and/or loaner to fix this problem. Or they can trade you another used machine. Did I miss something here?

Sometimes my machine squeals in time to my breathing.
When I re-seat the humidifier tank, it usually stops.
Check your seals--if mine gets repeatable, I will visit the DME.

Any chance the whistling is coming from the exhaust vent on the mask? I got whistles when the humidity caused the vent get wet.

Place the machine on the floor - much harder to hear.

I'll go one step further...

Pick up a 10' hose (about $10 on Amazon) and place the machine under your bed. The extra distance will diminish the sound.

I heard a whistling sound when I tried the cpap for the first time. It was the mask and I stopped using it. I ended up going to DME and ended up getting a new mask. The new mask solved the problem. Maybe that's your problem? But If I were you, I would go back to the DME and ask them what is going on. Maybe something needs to be fixed or replaced or you maybe have a defaulty machine. Good luck.

PS: In some cases, if your cpap or auto pap can't be fixed at all, The DME will contact medicaid and ask them to cover a new machine even before the time that you are allowed to order a new one. (example: Medicaid will allow you to order one on Feb. 1, 2018, but if the DME can't fix your machine, then the DME will contact medicaid and see if they can cover a new machine) In some cases, medicaid will bend the rules a little bit and cover the machine. They see a cpap/auto pap cheaper than a Emergency Room visit.

Does this mean you sold the one you posted on June 26, 2017? It read, in part,
"condition: new
make / manufacturer: Philips Respironics
model name / number: Dreamstation
It's brand new, out of the box. Only has blower hours of 1 night.
Works as new, perfectly.

Includes never used hose.

I can throw in ResMed Airfit P10 nasal pillow mask (medium) for $40

Comes with power cord and everything you need. I can show you how to get into Admin Settings, change the pressure etc. I'm sure there are plenty of threads on it here too.

I can work out shipping no problem.

I used it once but am sticking to my old machine since APAP might not even be the solution and I have a sleep doctor finally that's trying to help me actually figure this out."

You were advised at the time to keep it as a backup, but said you were happier with your current machine.
