Nasal pillow and bloody nose?

Post by Doublev » Sat Aug 05, 2017 10:05 pm

I have not had a bloody nose in over a decade. I notice in the morning small amounts of blood as i clear my nose .. not always but so far three times.

I think it is my nasal pillow... but if i go to the large size (i use a medium) it has a tendency to leak... sometimes i can use the L with no problem and other times it just leaks...

Has anyone experienced this? Does the nose get used to it or should i try a new mask? I am using the p10 and really like it... i wish the L size wouldnt leak because the airflow does feel better

If the sleepyhead chart shows there are no leaks, I would raise the humidity.

I agree with ajack on turning up the humidity. Dry nasal passages are often the cause of nosebleeds. I get nosebleeds during the day in the winter sometimes when the air is drier here, but never when I wake up. I keep the humidity on the machine pretty high most of the time.

Ugh, that sounds awful, sorry to hear that. Turning up the humidity sounds good. Also, Im thinking that a heated tube would help so that the air is not cold. Would a saline sinus rinse or just a moisture spray before CPAP help? Im just wondering.

I use something like Simply Saline nearly every night right before bed.
Sure won't hurt and it might help.

I think it is humidity! It is happening now when i have been out of town for the last week. I never have problems at home. Anyways im going home tonight so I hope that solves it.
The problem with humidity is the unit works great on auto with the climate air hoses.. once i dial in my own humidity to introduce more moisture i tend to get water in the mask.. i do note the chamber has more water in the AM so probably it could have used some tweaking but it is hard to do when travelling. Thanks for the input and if it happens at home ill tinker with it.
